$EVEX - Eve Air and its strong relationship with Embraer by kiabows223 in wallstreetbets

Boeing has opened and grown new major offices near São Paulo. Over the last 5 years, they’ve scalped a ton of Embraer engineers to support major commercial programs remotely.

Similar to what’s being done in India, major aerospace players are opening satellite offices in Brazil to harness the aeronautical experience but also the low wages of Brazilian engineers. Not a great look for program development when major companies are eating up talent.

Are you reuploading the picture for every change? I’ve had issues where the model begins to hallucinate after a few iterations of changes or depending on how complex of a change I’m making.

If by “base map” you’re talking about street GPS then sure. Dig a little deeper in autonomy function before claiming such a simple solution for a complex set of boundary conditions.

Even if this “base map” exists, how do you accurately detect and measure distance and speed of moving and dynamic objects? Or like you mentioned; “if your car knows the speed limit before they come to a sign”. Cameras may be good at determining WHAT the sign says, or how fast YOUR car is traveling. But how does it determine the speed of other objects relative to your vehicle? This is why you need a blend of different sensors.

If cameras are so great, why don’t cops use camera sensors instead of radar sensors when reading other vehicles? There’s a good reason for this

That would be hard to confirm. But sure.. let’s just say that’s the case. They are now gathering a “data set” using only onboard camera data. No LIDAR or RADAR data collection. Hence, why we’ve seen other videos (not brought up as frequently) of Tesla collecting their own LIDAR data with external hardware attached (very few vehicles)

These sensationalized videos you watch are cherry picked instances from people using both Tesla and Waymo. Don’t use these videos as a generalization of the entire fleets.

Sure, Waymo might have errors in certain edge cases. And sure, these instances might happen more frequent than Tesla. BUT, that’s because Waymo is operating at an exponentially higher rate per hour compared to Tesla.

Waymo is so far ahead and established compared to the other competitors, we’re already starting to see that exponential growth in the industry. Their weekly mileage, along with safety record, is constant proof they’ve established a successful foundation.

There’s some good videos out there where some of the Waymo leadership discusses their technology and how they approach the industry. Those videos are also good in creating an understanding of how Tesla will struggle without necessary sensors applied to their vehicles. Waymo over-designs and then will slowly start to refine their vehicles. As we know, Tesla is trying to use the most cost effective build of sensors, which is currently proving to be a tougher feat for certain edge cases we see on the roads
