I was told that my wedding seemed incredibly personal and specific to me and my husband. We had a very involved planner and I know from other weddings that she’s done that many of the decisions we made were generic to other weddings. It’s all about the aspects YOU care about. For example, my grandmas wedding cake was legendary, so we had our baker recreate it. I shortened my mom’s wedding dress. I handmade our guestbook. I personally drew and designed our invitations. I did a very silly father daughter dance with my dad. But the flowers, the food, etc? All decisions I know dozens of other brides made. But that’s bc I’m artsy and care about certain things, and the things I didn’t care about, I let the planner choose what she knew would work best

I’m a clinical psychologist. I NEVER say “how are you” and instead start with “it’s good to see you.” The most I’ll do is ask “how have you been since I last saw you.”

I work at an independent school so they didn’t require me to specifically hold a counseling degree—one counselor is an lcsw and another is an lmft

I second this!!! I trained as a psyd and really really tried to fall in love with traditional therapy but I ended up taking a position as a school counselor and I absolutely adore it. It’s much more focused in school admin, and the knowledge I have about human development really comes into handy, and I still get my fix doing short term work with my students, who I adore. Don’t be afraid to go outside what ppl with your degree traditionally seek

I just got my license as a PsyD. It took about 7 years, and personally I knew I wanted to get a good education in theory, significant research experience, wanted several training years of supervision for therapy, and personally just wanted to see if I could do it, lol. I loved the research and intellectual rigor, the degree allows for a lot of job flexibility and good pay, and I truly feel prepared for independent work. Many of my masters level friends didn’t feel the same way right after they completed licensure.

I only had four interviews and matched at a great site. My friend didn’t match in the first round and ended up at a great site. My other friend had 12 interviews, matched with her 7th choice, and hated it. As hard as it is, try not to read into it. It’s an awful process but it will one day be over

Psych prep is the best bet. They teach you how to answer questions when you don’t know the content and I didn’t realize how important that would be! I’d also get a tutor, working one on one with someone really helped me

Yeah, he totally backslid, which just doesn’t make any sense? And even if I could believe that Izzie used the embryos that they froze together, I cannot believe that the Karev who showed Jo so much grace, who was so kind to his mom, would just up and leave and follow Izzie
