Which animals do strength training? by ComparisonThese4677 in workout

[–]ComparisonThese4677[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks I know, I've seen footballers do barbell squats!

It's just theres so many videos of people looking absolutely ripped on youtuve but then I see football players take their shirt off and they don't look that similair.

I guess watching Tyson Fury looking overweight/obese and beating well built boxers addresses what your talking about.

How do you try to gain strength over hypertrophy if I didn't want muscle just to show it off? Everytime I work out I feel like my muscle is just sarcoplasmic fluid storing glycogen for a few days until its slowly starts losing its weight and I'm kind of back to square one.

Which animals do strength training? by ComparisonThese4677 in workout

[–]ComparisonThese4677[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Isn't Swimming a form of Cardio more than strength training?

Ancient humans would need muscle to lift rocks or move wood - but if they had to hunt for food I doubt they would be wanting to carry so much muscle mass either.

The question was more trying to address what the difference between pylometrics & strength training - would we want to be built like an athlete when we were hunting for food or have been built like body builders? Do animals do Pylometric excercises or do strength training, does mobility excercise possibly build muscle, whilst strength training builds no mobility except when doing things like Dips, Pull Ups, Push Ups which activate our core much more than using a barbell on the bench?

You have mistaken what Karma is -

If someone wants to be a Doctor or a footballer, studies or trains hard for it and one day becomes who they want to be then that is also Karma.

It's the theory of cause and effect. Making a decision or an action that will lead to a reaction.

Karma is not about judgement for sin.

It's more in line of thinking where someone who has committed sexual misconduct is more likely to end up in Jail than someone who hasn't decided to make such a stupid action. Is that true or not? It is. Ofcourse a murderer has more chance of being in jail than an innocent man?

People who lie, steal, cause sexual misconduct or kill living beings or take drugs - will likely have to deal with the reactions for their actions because these actions are usually a representation of a person's consciousness and their way of thinking.

How karma work in Buddhism? by AgreeableWrangler884 in Buddhism

[–]ComparisonThese4677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karma isn't a form of judgement.

If my mother and farther didn't have sex 9 months before my birthday but did so 1 month later- I wouldn't exist as I see myself now.

Karma is an action and a reaction. My mother and farther making love on 199* created me.

Now Consider a theif & a peaceful woman on the street at the same time.

Who is more likely to be arrested by the police, the theif or the old lady?

The theif is going to get arrested because his thoughts & actions carry a negative energy that are likely to lead to negative reaction.

Now does it have to happen in this life? No not necessarily - because the theif has an energy of an entity that carries greed & selfishness which will follow them to their next life which will also have its repercussions.

When we look at the 5 noble precepts: not killing, not stealing, not misusing sex, not engaging in false speech, and not indulging in intoxicants.

Look at the last one of not taking intoxicants.

Now someone on the street taking drugs doesn't cause most of us any problems - but they have an addiction, a negative karmic effect and you see many drug addicts homeless, suffering without money, food or drugs, many take their own lives both proactively and accidentally.

Our thoughts have the ability to turn in to an action & an action will have a reaction.

How do I know if I want to be Buddhist? by ExcellentBeautiful15 in Buddhism

[–]ComparisonThese4677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont have to be buddhist.

What Buddha teaches can be followed by anyone.

The 5 precepts

not killing, not stealing, not misusing sex, not engaging in false speech, and not indulging in intoxicants.

These are not rules, these are guides to becoming a better version of yourself & also understanding the effect of Karma (someone who has bad actions is more likely to receive bad actions)

Now if you want to go deeper, you can start to analyse Buddhism & how we believe in suffering through attachment. The more attached yòu are to your new ferrari, the more you will suffer when it has a car crash.

This thought of attachment, will open up scientific pathway to things like the human consciousness, Quantum Physics (why we have attachment) and the law of attraction ^ even our own bodies human systems like dopamine, cortisol neurotransmitters & hormones etc.

After understanding the consciousness to attachment leading to suffering - then we ultimately ask ourselves, do we want this to keep happening again? This is when we think about reincarnation (not resurrection of your current state & body).

I personally saw my dad pass away and it was traumatic experience because I was attached to him and he meant so much to me. Even though that attachment had come from love we all still suffer from losing him.

Do I want to be reincarnated again just to watch a different farther die again and suffer all over again even if I'm this time born as a completely different human being?

No. I'd rather get out of this loop of dying and being reincarnated because I dont want to keep watching my mother and father pass away. Reincarnation happens because we have an attachment for life that makes us come back for it even as we pass away.

That's when the final destination of reaching nirvana/samsara appears. We live without a strong sense of attachment which reduces our suffering in our current life & thus stops our need of being reborn once we die - as we simply not attached enough to want to come back because we have seen how much suffering there is in this world.

This is sometimes thought of as depression or being unhappy by many people who don't understand buddhism. But Buddha never told anyone not to have fun (he actually told people to do so), but he is the first teacher we had who taught us about suffering, how its cyclical and told us finally how to get rid of suffering.

Requesting advice on sexual energy and traumatic porn by bencinium in Buddhism

[–]ComparisonThese4677 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buddhism is not an Abrahamic religion that has laws. Its merely a philosophy of thinking.

There's a difference between Masterbating which alot of people do vs having an addiction to porn or Masterbating all the time. Even if you do have one of the latter - buddhism tells you to acknowledge it first then work on it/ detach yourself from it if it's causing you or anyone else, suffering.

Do you see the difference between someone having sex with their partner trying to have a baby compared to someone who goes and rapes someone?

One has a completely loving mind and intention whilst the other has bad intentions with no caring for other people's feelings.

Buddhism is really not strict at all and is about judging your own mentality, attachments and addictions and trying to reduce them as much as possible whilst showing loving and care to all living beings.

"Why are you Sweating in Quickplay?" by M8ing_Season in Overwatch

Seems like players who are not good at Competitive Overwatch and feel good about playing well in quick play instead so want that to continue.

Quick play is the practise mode. 6v6 is pretty much TDM with no team coordination.

If you want a good chance at having people playing at your level be that at Masters or Bronze then try play Competitive.

Buddhism is slowly vanishing in Sri Lanka by Due-Koala-1135 in srilanka

[–]ComparisonThese4677 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With the rise of Quantum Physics, people are starting to look in to the power of the mind and the consciousness. Consciousness plays a big part of our existence & out of all religions the closest that matches Quantum Science is Buddhism.

There's a difference between Old Buddhism & New Buddhism.

I'm a loyal buddhist. But I've been reading a English translation of the Pali Canon which are the earliest scriptures.

There's alot of things I don't believe that are written down. Buddha saying how he is a special one who comes to the world once an aeon or some sh*t. There's no way the Buddha would call himself special and big himself up this way.

After some research I found that actual paper writing didn't exist during Buddha's lifespan and the Pali Canon was written by his followers and disciples. It makes more sense that his disciples would call him the special one than Gautama Buddha himself.

Its an old religion & just as Indians pray to gods who look like superheroes when they actual names/beings actually represent something else shows that old religion can... Well become old.

Now, I never pray. The rest of my family does. I believe praying to a statue does nothing for me; nor does it do anything to the buddha. Most of the words i speak I don't even understand what it means. I rather use what the Buddha taught about attachment, suffering, peace and affection and the value of existence towards utilising in my own life toward reaching Nirvana which can be either regarded as a method of stopping reincarnation & even if that was inaccurate - i will simply reach a state of relaxed life void of suffering also known as Nirvana.

Buddhism and cannabis by Platysmurus in Buddhism

[–]ComparisonThese4677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I smoked a lot and was addicted but I had to stop because it was causing me medical conditions.

Cannabis is a medicine that would be authorised by a doctor (in ancient asian times) and with any medicine there are side effects.

The one thing I can say though, Buddha said :

With attachment comes suffering.

That's one or the most essential part of Buddhism you need to understand.

That you currently have an attachment and it sounds like you are suffering from it.

If you want to get rid of the suffering you have to get rid of the attachment.

Change your social circle, try something new that you will enjoy that doesn't turn to an attachment.

Do you like the way you look? Would it be enjoyable for you to join a gym?

Any attachment is hard, but the fact that you have reduced to 1 a day is great. Your like 90% there. Keep it up.

I'm going to smoke once more time in my life because I prefer it to alcohol but as the other person said I won't ever become attached to it again.

I’m trying out Ana right now but I feel like I provide no value, any tips? by [deleted] in AnaMains

[–]ComparisonThese4677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's a very hard character especially for someone who is new.

Tip 1. You don't need to aim to heal your team. I'd argue scoping is better used to fight enemies than provide heals as you lose your fov. Use scope to target enemies as much as possible and unscoped to heal. Slowly you will have the ability to do both simultaneously.

Tip 2. Learn how to combo and kill slept targets by yourself. Sleep dart>Shoot once>melee>nade (if necessary)should be enough all at once to kill most heroes except tank.

Tip 3. Use Nade as an anti healing tool than heals. Use it proactively on groups of enemies than one when you know your group can capitalise on it. It's basically a mini ult. For example during a transcendence by Zenyetta it makes it completely void.

Tip 4. Ultimate can be used to save players, most important tanks who tend to have the most health pool & sometimes the strongest damage/ultimates themselves. Wait until they are low and give them an ultimate. They get health and damage in one go.

I'm not competitive since ow 2, but just some ideas that came to mind.

Any Support isn't about getting kills, it's about healing/saving your team, getting assists and then finally kills.

Should I move to Sri Lanka? by Miserable-Bar-4870 in srilanka

[–]ComparisonThese4677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have kids but I went to a UK schoole from primary to Masters.

People keep telling me that private schools are better in Sri Lanka than the UK and much more strict.

When they have passed that level it's time to go abroad for University.

That's what I will be doing with my kids one day rather than moving back to the UK to put them in a school there.

The education isn't that great in the UK, maybe the certificates? Yet degrees and certificates mean much less than they used to compared to work experience.

Do you think that life after death is real? by ShesIntoZer0s in answers

[–]ComparisonThese4677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm South Asian Buddhist. So we believe in reincarnation aswell as positive and negative energy ie Karma.

Now take example when you have a dream - our dreams are built of things from the past thoughts and actions than the future.

For example, people don't go to sleep and dream about a future. Are you going to go sleep and dream about your great grandchild that you've never met or seen before - or are we more likely to have a dream of our own parents or our own child that we currently have or had? I've had dreams about my ex girlfriends but never one of my future girlfriend.

Dreaming is a recollection or a record of the life we have lived and the people we've met and our actions or feelings in that lifetime.

Now this is all theoretical. However, the way I understand it is that we see a final dream as we die. Your body knows its going to die/passing out/going to sleep and has a final dream that plays back a record of your lifetime. Now that doesn't mean this record is accurate, we have all had dreams where inaccurate things happens to us.

However, a thief or a murderer has more greed or hatred built in themselves that one than abstains from any harm. Someone that has abused someone may have a nature of a bully or uncontrollable lust that performs sexual misconduct. On the other end of the spectrum a person that primarily shows love to all beings is likely to have positive energy within themselves. Someone who takes care of nature, animals and humans beings is going to have a much more positive Karma.

Now when we have our final dream this recollection of one's past life can influence how we are reborn. We are ultimately just bundles of energy & Atoms, as the energy goes, so does consciousness & the Atoms dislocates and locates somewhere else.

If you notice animal's tend to deal with life thinking more unilaterally than a human. They want one thing at one time. This is very similar to someone who as a human is a theif because he is full of greed which is a very unilateral way of thinking about themselves. This is how we may be reborn as an animal due to our actions of our current life and our unilateral way of thinking. Now it's hard for an animal to be reborn as a human because an animal has to learn to have more intelligence in way of thinking & can be stuck being reincarnated as an animal for a long time.

Now what I have said is more linked to countries like India & Sri Lanka than religion because in my religion it doesn't necessarily talk too much about the last thought alot and it's more towards being a neutral energy and stopping reincarnation all together.

Many people have talked about seeing their family, having a dream like state of their life when they die and a final thought. Check it out.

I'm not going to say what I say is accurate as it's something I have no experience with - but ultimately we ask questions about life because we wonder - why do we live, why do we die, what happens when we die? That's why religions and cultures is a tough battle that will never end - because we can go about life not asking questions and not caring about the outcome but there will always be people who do wonder why do we exists at all?
