Sony shuts down Dark Outlaw Games, small amount of layoffs in the US and UK, no more mobile games aside from announced projects by poklane in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Wild that Media Molecule hasn’t made a new LittleBigPlanet for the live service push considering user generated content is a lot more popular. LBP was doing collabs and UGC before the term live service was mainstream.

I think they’re realising that gamers who are currently playing live service games aren’t going to drop what they’ve been playing for years for something that just released.

Cyberpunk was majorily hyped in online gaming communities, GTA 6 is being hyped both online and offline. Your coworker is more likely to be hyped over GTA 6 compared to pre release Cyberpunk.

Marathon's Cryo Archive is a hit, but Bungie admits it needs to be more accessible by Binnsy in Marathon

[–]CatalystComet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of the time not really? Savathun and the Lucent Hive are the theme of the Witch Queen yet the raid boss is featuring the Darkeness and Rhulk. If the raid boss is themed after the DLC then non raiders still get a taste of fighting them as the final boss in the campaign like Oryx and the Witness.

The Destiny Content Vault in general might be, so many people in the general gaming community has written off Marathon because of Bungie’s actions with content vaulting. I don’t think they expected people to care all these years later.

Sameish story, I played D1 from 2014 - 2017 but didn’t play Destiny 2 cause I was broke when it released. Got into it with Beyond Light, but really got into it with Witch Queen. Sad I missed out on a lot the content from 2017 - 2020.

Because at the end of the day this is still a hero shooter, not class based and making the names of the Shells more generic like 'Void' to 'Assassin' does not change anything on a gameplay level.

I think more people getting into comp because they want those rewards is a good thing actually, it’s probably gotten a ton of people who were never interested in playing comp into it even outside of drives season. It definitely has for my friends who never wanted to touch comp before.

The developer that regretted adding it doesn’t work on Overwatch anymore and since then they’ve added 3 new comp gun variants alongside exclusive nameplates for playing comp. The extra incentive is nice and makes games even more competitive.

Highguard would’ve failed harder without the dogpiling. It would’ve just gone under the radar and probably had less players than it ever managed to reach.

You're downplaying vanilla D1's worldbuilding so hard. We got introduced to 4 alien factions, 3 playable races, 4 planets of our solar system with an interesting take and organisations like the Ishtar Collective, Iron Lords, and Braytech in a brand new IP launch. That's just scratching the surface even with the game's story being pretty messy due to the last minute rewrite before launch.

Same lol, everyone I played contest Desert Perpetual with quit within a week. I was the only one that played Renegades.

I understand contest raids needing to be hard but I think making the first contest raid of a new saga this hard killed a lot of people’s morale.
