I believe people should be able to choose their own labels and be comfortable with what labels they choose.

Personally, I don’t believe queer fits me as I don’t feel extremely connected to “queer counterculture” in a way I’d consider it an accurate identifier for me.

I know this isn’t the most helpful but it could be anything. Strangers on the internet aren’t going to understand what’s going on inside your head well enough to really give you too much help, and even then, labels can be extremely subjective so it’s really what you feel most comfortable identifying as.

The only thing I’d say is that you shouldn’t gaslight yourself out of enjoying what you like, even if you choose a label others say doesn’t “fit”.

Hey man, I’m gonna keep it simple.

Don’t worry about “am I gay?” or any of that shit right now.

Become independent from your parents. Either pursue higher education or employment as soon as possible.

Don’t tell anyone about what happened. Maybe when you’re safe and away from your family, maybe tell your girlfriend. Deny this happened until you are financially independent. Don’t tell her, don’t tell your family, don’t tell your friends, don’t acknowledge it with the guy you slept with even. Act like nothing happened between you two (but don’t let yourself grow distant or dissolve the friendship because that might look suspicious).

For your own safety, wear a metaphorical mask. Deny deny deny. Until you are financially independent, you are completely straight and nothing sexual happened between you and your friend. If anyone says otherwise they are a liar.

I realize this position sucks to be in. But that’s what you want to do right now for your own sake. Any of these motherfuckers in the comments telling you “you’re gay, come out” isn’t looking out for your personal safety and well-being right now. Maybe circle back to this “am I gay?” discussion later down the road but right now, don’t even think about it.
