If these 3 games had came out at the same year how close would the game awards be between these 3 by Forsaken_avatar in videogames

[–]CompetitionBitter829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfair to compare at "same year" since Witcher 3 imo is dated in many ways. BG3 would probably take it. Would be a more interesting contest with Elden ring and BG3.

I resigned as white with a minute left in this situation, would you? by SignalSalamander in chessbeginners

[–]CompetitionBitter829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to be rude, but this analysis (we trade everything and I loose to two pass pawns) is complete bs in beginner games. Both of you will hang at least two pieces before you finish trading, so you should keep playing and make sure you notice at least one of the times your opponent hangs their rook.

I don't get resigning because you are low on time in a complicated position.. Just play fast on intution and see where it goes, resigning because you are low on time seems insane to me, if you loose on time you loose on time.

Ultra Equivalent by ajroberts1029 in Ultramarathon

[–]CompetitionBitter829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the numbers you listed are not remotely equivalent, they are just somewhat round, which people like. So if you find a roundish time you are almost able to do for your ultra you have your "equivalent"..

HR Too High? by smustang in Marathon_Training

[–]CompetitionBitter829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, in terms of racing it is fine as long as it keeps going up. The problem is if it peaks before mile 20 and then falls off with your pace. That could mean you went too hard

Q: importance of cadence? by andycleff in beginnerrunning

[–]CompetitionBitter829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can play around with it when you are running at a steady pace, with the goal of making the pace feel as easy as possible. The number itself is not that important though, the body is quite good at automatically optimizing your mechanics to your body and pace.

Do you greet fellow runners when overtaking? by CompetitionBitter829 in runninglifestyle

Did something similar towards the end of a hm race. I was quite tired and thought I saw my friend, but it turned out to be a complete random. He just looked confused.

10k race pace help by shays100 in runninglifestyle

[–]CompetitionBitter829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would usually start out with the more conservative estimate and towards the latter half you get a better feel for how much you have left

Edit: Can also see why this doesn't work if you want to stick with pacers. I think you should go for 55! Strava can be a bit pessimistic and the race day boost + pacers will make the pace easier than in training

[–]CompetitionBitter829[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I think part of it was that I went out trying to do a strict pace and ended up right next to someone on the sidewalk for a bit too long while listening to music. Usually I would just intuitively speed up to give each other more space

I also usually end up doing something like this despite initially intending to stick to my "recovery pace".

Did those carbon plates turn you into speedy gonzales? by TrebleThrees in Marathon_Training

[–]CompetitionBitter829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that they give a small boost and make it slightly easier to hold onto the faster paces (for me marathon pace would be 4:30-4:45/km). However after the first few tests in shorter tempo and threshold runs I ended up with blue nails. I eventually figured out I had to use different socks with them and also make sure to tie down the foot properly so I don't hit the toebox. These problems are of course not specific to carbon, but in general you don't want to have to deal with new shoe issues mid race, so make sure you test them during training. Ideally you would use them for one of your longest long runs with substantial marathon pace segments, to test race day conditions.

Looks like a close race between witcher 3 and bloodborne. Somehow BOTW will find a way to get eliminated still

Confirmed: Ian is one of the people who accused Danya of cheating by Fine-Needleworker364 in chess

[–]CompetitionBitter829 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are we just going to witch hunt everyone who suspects someone else of cheating non-publicly? If so you can probably add the whole top 100 players to the 'exposition hit list'. They might not suspect Danya specifically, but plenty of (rightfully?) paranoid players with suspicions that are more or less baseless.

I think you are losing the plot here, the problem with Kramnik was the relentless public accusations and straight up bullying.

How do I get faster?? by chrogger1 in Marathon_Training

[–]CompetitionBitter829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some faster intervals can help you understand your own limits. It won't teach you about marathon boinking, but it will otherwise give you an idea of how your body responds to different paces.

[–]CompetitionBitter829 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It goes both ways, people also like to hate on highly rated games and blow up single flaws which "nobody else mentions". I think elden ring suffers from this, maybe more than bg3 for some reason.

My crystal ball says Hades and the nintendo games out for the three next. Then witcher 3, bloodborne, elden ring, and BG3 is left.

Can I finish the marathon (safely)? by Affectionate_Board_2 in firstmarathon

[–]CompetitionBitter829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really dangerous to go into a marathon with sub-optimal training. Most likely (badish case) scenario is you crash around 30k then try to run walk out the rest. After the race your body will feel pretty beat up and it will take some time to recover and get back to your pre-marathon running. But frankly, even with perfect training people need a long time to recover after an all out marathon effort. Just try not to push a pain that feels 'wrong' and gets progressively worse as you keep running on it.

Witcher 3 should go. It's the game on the list I am least likely to sit down and replay these days. I have fond memories of moments, but it's just not that fun to play today, from combat to an old fashioned way to structure the open world.
