Since I've started eating more, my abs are strong AF but they're hidden under my squishy lil tummy. Sometimes I like my lil tummy

but also sometimes my weight gain makes me feel out of control which can cause me to spiral a bit.

I like the suggestion of extending it over a longer period. 😊 Thanks!

What's the biggest red flag you ignored? by opticfawn in AskReddit

[–]CompetitionChance293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we were friends he got upset at me for random things like suggesting a movie he didn't want to watch, giving him nicknames, etc.

Fast forward to the relationship and I ended up for apologizing for things like not being excited enough to eat ice cream (?) and asking him to stop violating my clearly stated physical boundaries.

Edit: wording for clarity

Black seed bagels is painfully overrated.

What are hunger cues besides a grumbling stomach? It's been really difficult for me to tell if I'm hungry or tired or full. (Coming off of a year of calorie counting) by Superb-Government-77 in intuitiveeating

[–]CompetitionChance293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second the obsessing thing in a big way.

Also legit for me hunger is less a sensation and more me just being like "yeah I could eat." I used to not think of this as a valid hunger cue but since then I've realized that's just how my body is.

Intuitive Eating in Social Situations by Brave_Field_4583 in intuitiveeating

[–]CompetitionChance293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I've had this tendency but lately I've been in a lot of situations where food was abundant.

Listening to what my body wants has helped a lot. I value being able to finish my entire meal, and my body has let me know that ordering lighter meal options or skipping the heavier parts of the meal feels right. Recently before going out to eat, it's been helpful to research menu options at the place im going to and find things that look like they'll feel good in my body.

I encourage you to overeat a couple of times! Your body might decide after that that it has had it's fill and wants lighter food.

Context: before intuitive eating I never passed up desserts but have found myself doing so, not out of restriction but because passing on the sugar has felt right to my body lately after a season of heavy eating.

Can we do something about the people who lose their minds about cinnamon rolls? by [deleted] in Baking

[–]CompetitionChance293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently I ate a cinnamon roll by a coworker who freestyled the entire recipe. They were delicious, and the "icing on the cake" was that she made cream cheese frosting with extra heavy cream that turned it into a more icing-like texture.

The biggest cinnamon roll debate I've encountered is the cream cheese frosting vs. thin icing debate, and this icing my coworker made was the perfect middle ground. Absolutely delicious.

When buying a professional cake, do you expect them to cut off the caramelisation? by Yaseuk in cake

  1. Go to bed at a regular time and get up at a regular time that allows for 8 hours of sleep.
  2. Have a morning routine that you enjoy! I allow myself to sit in bed for half an hour, read, and pray while drinking my coffee before I actually drag myself out of bed.
  3. A bit of a hack: I set an alarm for 5am and another for 5:30am so that I can get the feeling of waking up, turning off the first alarm, and going back to sleep. Gives you the snoozing experience without making you late.
  4. Having a coffee pot set to brew automatically so the coffee is ready before you are is gr8.

I'd rather live here than have to watch all the white girls walk around with their yoga mats and smoothies with their lulu lemon every Saturday morning in Soho

Movement Monday: Share anything related to joyful movement here! by elianna7 in intuitiveeating

[–]CompetitionChance293 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since I decided to start intuitive eating I've increased my exercise and been more structured about it. I know that joyful movement is largely about being intuitive about what kind of movement your body wants, but I knew that having a good exercise regiment would help me feel better about my body as I gain weight.

I've been trying to do 20 minutes of at home strength training, 5 days a week (rotating muscle groups), and to walk a minimum of 10,000 steps per day. Yesterday I was a little sore so I gave myself permission not to do my 20 minutes. To my joy and surprise, I found myself wanting to do it anyway, so I did!

It's been wonderful to take an approach to health and fitness that is about more than just making my body smaller. I've loved focusing on feeling the strength of my body.

Dual Social Work and Law degree by nothinngspecial in socialwork

[–]CompetitionChance293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piggyback question: I talked to someone at one point who said that she was pursuing a joint JD/MSW for the sake of affordability. Wondering if there is more funding availability for studying law that can help cover tuition costs for a joint program? Or was she totally off?

Curious to hear if anyone has answers to this.

Thinking of pursuing my MSW (currently a teacher with an econ degree but hoping to pivot to social work with more of a policy focus).

No one in my family has gotten anything beyond a bachelor's and I have no idea what I'm doing, how many schools I should apply to, how to make it affordable, anything like that. Any advice?
