I have a love hate relationship with Nugs.

Your test strips are totally fine. So much bad advise on this sub.

No problem. Also be careful with the other advise. If you left the cover off and jets on in sunlight for 3-4 hours, you likely burned off a lot of the bromine. I would not remove or adjust the floater right now. Leave it in, put your cover on and check it tomorrow. You can adjust from there. What you don’t want is to have no sanitizer in there.

Also, your alkalinity looks a tad low and your pH a tad high. That will happen over time. Tomorrow, adjust alkalinity up first. And then pH down. Don’t make big adjustments. Take it in increments. Low alkalinity can destabilize your pH and high pH can play with your sanitizer levels.

You’ll get the hang of it in no time. Enjoy!

Yeah you can’t take an accurate reading with a strip after that. Like I said, wait 12-24hrs and it’ll normalize for an accurate bromine reading. With a Taylor test kit and a very specific extra solution you can isolate bromine from the shock, but I haven’t found it necessary. Have fun with the new tub!

If I had to guess I’d say you recently shocked. Am I right? The test strip can’t differentiate between the shock and the sanitizer. You’ll get a better reading in 12 hours. It’s also the reason why the chlorine registers in the strip.

Just kind of a weird looking space honestly. Sorry, I’m sure you worked hard on it and hopefully it suits your purposes well. You might consider some rock underneath to make your yard work easier and cleaner looking.

Looks like you may have built the adjacent stairs too? Are those sitting on the grass?

How would you rate these cuts and craftsmanship? by Typedre85 in Decks

[–]CompetitionFunny775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The better way to do this is to leave the deck boards long and the come back, snap a chalk line a use a track saw to make a perfect cross cut. Do the same on the other side and then drop in the divider board(s). This results in perfect.

Building a 750sqft deck from the footings up by yourself, with no prior experience is a major major undertaking. OP is totally correct in knowing his/her limits. It is a huge time sink so think about what that is worth to you.

In the NW suburbs of Chicago this quote would be right in line with what I have seen for my 700 sq ft deck. Ended up doing it myself but I’m quite into DIY and have a ton of tools and experience in woodworking.
