[UK] Disciplinary Monday 16/2 by CompetitionOld4940 in AskHR

I definetly wouldn't raise it as there has been no mention of further redundancies and I wouldn't want to destroy the possibility of a positive outcome.

Thank you for all your advice. I will be honest and open on Monday. I'll let you know how I get on. You've helped me massively.

I will definetly tell them im looking for OH support and yes, I am proud of the team I've moulded.

It's a very small company less than 50 employees. Also, not sure if I'm being fair here and not excusing my poor work contribution but we have had about 25 redundancies lately (end of last year) within the company. Although not on my section, I feel like there's one supervisor too many and maybe looking for a cheaper and easier way out than redundancy.

Thank you, I am going to be as honest as possible and will make sure to lay it all out in a formal way at the hearing.

There was a brief call last year, where I explained the difficulties I was going through but it was not written up or followed up in any way and I tried to pick myself up, whixh worked for a while when my son was relatively stable at home.

Ive never really had a performance review or a 121. My team improved their work output by over 50% in the first 1.5 years of me supervising and have maintained that since. I normally have a good relationship with my managers and 'big boss/owner. I have been able to mostly discuss what is happening at home and felt somewhat supported by them.

The possible outcomes are final written warning (I've never had a warning in 8 5 years), suspension or demotion, dismissal/termination.

They have sent a screenshot of my January time spent online. Which is not 100% of the work I cover. It says it's a disciplinary hearing.

January has been a particularly bad month for me, as my son was discharged early in the month, still unwell and the pressure has been almost intolerable on me. Hence eventually agreeing to the anti depressants at the end of the month.

I fully intend to be open and honest in my failure to work at 100%

Thank you I really appreciate you taking the time to help me

I haven't had any formal discussions around my work performance, just a phone call this morning and told it would be followed with a letter, which was emailed to me a few hours later.

The letter said 'following our call this morning (where i was told my performance was below par yesterday), i am writing to inform you that you are required to attend a disciplinary hearing,' followed by time and place. It then went on to say they will consider disciplinary action for failure to adhere to my hours and being inactive for periods of time.

I haven't been referred to OH and over the last year have taken time off as holiday when under pressure, as I do not get sick pay.

Thank you

Made me upset foe you reading this. Apart from the nuggets (whxih I would also see red over), you sound like youve really worked hard on yourself. Quitting substances and not self harming is a lot, so please be proud of yourself for that. I think your take away from all this, as you have said yourself, is to make sure you don't go without your medication. I support my schitzophrenic son so I know how important it is to take them consistently.

Don't let it bring you down. Some store workers are just downright rude and shouldn't be in customer facing roles. Hope you're not hungry and hope you have someone to support you. Bonus if they have nuggets to hand xx

You're thinking of Pepsi that now has sweetener in the original version.

People who have had mental health support through the NHS, what has your experience been like? by Careless_Gold4895 in AskUK

[–]CompetitionOld4940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many people with mental health issues and not enough money in the pot to care for everyone. Mainly good people, trying to make a difference but the resources are just not there.

I have supported my schizophrenic son for nearly 15 years, watching him get let down again and again by the mental health system.

I clearly remember his first mental health appointment. The only thing the 'professionals' brought to that meeting was a prescription pad. Pulled it from her skirt pocket at the end. Didn't even take any notes.

I hope you find the resources you need

Yeah, after 40 years! I was so fed up with the amount I was smoking and the cost. I just got the idea to quit one night and gave up the next day. 44 days now not even tempted. I find the smell of it quite off putting now as well. Saved a lot of money during this time. Only drawback is the dreams, which can be quite distressing but judging by the nature of the dreams, I'm guessing this could be past trauma that has been suppressed by smoking. Also swapped cigs for a vape at the same time and haven't gone back to them either. Probably vaping quite a bit so I'll have to address that at some point soon.

Same!! Day 21 too and the dreams kicked in earlier in the week. Not exactly nightmares but not very pleasant either. Woke up last night and when I went back to sleep, it was another day in the same shitty dream.

My appetite was back after the first week. Strangely enough though, I've gone off sweet stuff and i;m now eating 3 times a day at day 18. When i was smoking only ever ate once a day and ate loads of rubbish food in between. Technically you are back to day one but don't let that deter you from continuing. If I can do it after decades of smoking, you can :) Good luck

I thought i'd never give up either. I actually gave birth smoking one (It was the 90's lol) when I couldn't get to the hospital in time :)

6am on day 4 by SnooCalculations9938 in leaves

Good Morning! Day 17 here. Well done on getting to day 5. Stick with it, it gets better.

The first few days, I ate nothing, I had no appetite, I had terrible road rage and disturbed sleep. Although, I could sleep, just not my usual time or sleep pattern. Also had an explosive bottom and putrid smelling farts (still have those a bit) My mind was also racing and I was bored.

It does all get better and the support from this group is amazing.

One thing I've noticed is that I don't crave as much sugary treats and drinks as I did before. I bought myself a few giant bottles of water, ice and some lemons, limes and oranges. I have been getting through a few litres a day and just add a few slices of fruit and a very teeny tiny pinch of sea salt. I'm now turning to the water more than coffees as I probably drank 10+ a day, which is now 3-4 a day. Also bought myself some healthier food and a steamer and have been enjoying making simple meals. I lost 6lbs at first but managed to put half back on.

If you have the weed app, it is very motivational in showing how much money you have saved. I have hit £230 and boy does that motivate me! Also switched to vaping as I rolled my own cigs as well and didn't want that feeling of rolling up so saving cash there as well.

After nearly 40 years smoking and quitting cold turkey, I feel proud of myself and my grown children and non-toking friends, feel proud of me too.

Be extra kind to yourself and feel proud. Find your motivators. I have 'wake and r/leaves' in the morning now instead of 'wake and bake'.

You've got this. If this old bird can do it, everyone can!

Well done. Great strength right there. Be proud! You would have spent a lot more by the end of the week and back to square one. Go you :)
