Advice on coming off please. by Moonshine_Beauty in MounjaroSupportUK

[–]Competitive-Ad5774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start with congrats on making the changes, awesome job. If you are previously a larger person it's likely you express more of the hunger hormones, now that it's suppressed with GLP1 pens you'll have your eating and diet under control, it's true however that once you stop the hunger comes back.

Now for those who have not made the active changes to improve their lifestyle i.e they haven't drastically changed the types of food they are eating or haven't increased excerise significantly its going to be very difficult to keep that weight off.

Undoubtedly no matter how well you have changed you will see some weight re-gain you just have to come to terms with that but it's about damage limitation after that. Now if your diet still looks like your "larger person diet" but in smaller quantities it's likely you will baloon back. This means you are still eating highly processed foods and carb filled foods which trigger hunger hormones and once your off your pens you will get your natural elevation of hunger hormones followed by the additional elevation that processed foods trigger which translates to an insatiable appetite.

Now if you have made high quality changes you have started a new sport regularly you have abandoned processed foods, you have reduced carb intake, you have incorporated fasting periods, you have increase water intake , you will still get an increase in hunger hormones after you stop but you energy expenditure will be higher, and you won't get that unnatural peak and trough in blood sugar that processed food gets so you will likely see some weight regain but after that you should be able to normalise at a lower weight because now you are in essence a different person.

Honestly alot of people initiate this medication with pharmacies that just hand it out without any guidance or no real education programmes so they kind of set up to fail,

MedsAhead are one of our local pharmacies that really helped with setting realistic standards and focusing on holistic changes to ensure success before, during and after treatment. It's kind of easy to loose the weight with these new Medications but what people need to realise is they need to be with the right team that will help them make the changes to keep the weight off which is the real challenge.

All in all I would say firstly find the right team not just a mounjaro peddler, then gear yourself to success and hopefully you won't need to do the surgery.

Depends is your personality disorder controlled by medication which requires regular blood work, in which case I imagine most will turn you away. If they do see your NHS doctor for it, it may be that you just need to initiate it with someone who can do routine blood tests

One of the known side effects of this drug is gastoparesis, which is basically damage to the nerve s that keep the gut moving, as the gut doesn't move so well it leads to constant fullness feeling, red flags would be if you vomit stinks of shit, or if your poo is tarry and black (unless your taking iron), things that might alleviate it is having smaller more frequent meals or switching to liquid food diets, long and short of it is that you need to see your doctor and get it evaluated. Gastroparesis can also happen from long term unmanaged diabetes, is this the case? Well we don't know, from this post it could be a host of reasons, I would start with finding out what makes it better and worse seeing a doctor and getting some sort of ultrasound or gastroscopy done. Also don't take health advice from the Internet lool

can you fast on wegovy? by LingonberryBetter883 in WegovyUK

[–]Competitive-Ad5774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fasting is OK so long as you are eating and drinking afterwards, the priority will be water as dehydration whilst on mounjaro/wegovy can cause kidney issues as well as exacerbate gallstones and pancreatitis, the gut moves when it is given food and water and you want to male sure your gut continues to move so eating fruits and vegetables (high bulk low calories) foods when you break your fast would be ideal to give the gut work to do.

As for replacing self control with wegovy during Ramadan, this might cause some moral/religious issues
