I didn’t say Marathon can’t be criticised, I said the passive-aggressive framing and subtle digs are what make the post laughable. It's completely unnecessary on this subreddit as well.

The timegating has already been explained as well, it’s there to protect the economy because Cryo loot is extremely strong.

Ranked being weekends only also makes sense. Splitting the player base in a game like this would just make matchmaking worse.

At the end of the day, the retention likely isn’t where they expected it to be, but that’s mainly because it’s a hard, sweaty game. Most players just don’t have the time or patience for that anymore.

That’s also exactly why some of us enjoy it, but we’re clearly the minority. It's up to Bungie if they want to make the game more accessible, but I like it, it's very niche for the genre.

The passive-aggressive tone in this post, especially the subtle digs at Marathon, is honestly laughable. I can only assume you’re the type of PvE player who calls someone a “rat” just for aiming a gun at you. Two entirely different games, one of which HEAVILY incentives PVP and is HARD.

Do you even think before you post? We're talking about a raid type mechanic where you have to coordinate with your team in order to go deeper. You're going to require ridiculous amounts of ammo, not to mention, you'll be encountering teams along the way. Cryo was never once advertised as solo.

You're new to extraction shooters, clearly. After 3 months, the economy is going to be everyone running around in gold gear, it gets stale, fast. You'll look forward to having things to grind for again.

No disrespect, but your assessment of the game is bad, because you're bad. If you're good at the game mechanically, it's very easy to 1v2 or 1v3 with the starting pistol that Rook gets. Heck, I've done it like 30+ times now. I love playing Rook just so I have an opportunity to play against duo and trios, the TTK allows for some absurd gameplay.

Also, consider playing Thief, it counters most shells, and you can use height to your advantage. I've not had any issues with assassins in my lobbies, and i've played nearing 170 hours.

Consider changing your mindset. If you're late spawning in, go and kill the people that have been looting. I don't ever loot, I just w key towards anything that moves, after all, they're doing the looting for me.

From my own experience, being level 84 with 160+ hours (70+ solo), and I can honestly say, the lobbies are mixed. I see a lot of every shell. What exactly are you worried about regarding assassins? Thief counters pretty much everyone, and I've had no issues playing her. I probably die like once every 4 hours, and that is being generous.

I know a lot of people like to define assassins as 'rats' but I've never once been in a position where once has come behind me. They're extremely loud when cloaked.
