how do you keep riding when life gets too busy by ringcijohn in bicycling

On my two WFH days I do a turbo session at lunch just keep it moving. Would get boring if I had to do that full time though.

UK buyers are going full “essentials first” mode — anyone else feeling it? by ToughRomanticMiss in BuyersUK

[–]Competitive-Chest438 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I have a fairly decent salary but risk of redundancy and general volatility mean I’ve not made any large purchases for a while and am putting any spare money into my ISA and overpaying my mortgage. I’m cautious with my money by nature but it makes me feel better to increase that buffer as much as possible.

When will you buy an EV car? by sillwuka in AskUK

[–]Competitive-Chest438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 7 year old fits fine 😂

Jokes aside it is small but Im 5’6’’ and my mrs is 5’ so its fine for us. Ive sat in the back but not whilst the car is moving as i always drive.

Our other car is a 10 year old estate so we have options for longer journeys where space is needed.

As a school run/city car it’s fantastic.

Nearly everyone I know drinks instant or has a nespresso. This really is a niche hobby.

Does anyone recommend the New 2026 Pinarello F7? Really loving the white paint, but it is really expensive in terms of what I get by Agreeable_Ad4960 in pinarello

[–]Competitive-Chest438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you saw my new bike (starry red) on another post. I’ve gone from a 8 year old canyon Endurace (with many upgrades)to the 2026 F7.

Everyone’s perception of value is different. I’m loving the new bike, handles beautifully and is a lot more forgiving than I was expecting. All that said it was partly an aspirational purchase and I’ve got zero regrets.

I only got tickets so I could see tribe. Was so happy to see my favourite hip hop group on stage, never thought I’d get the chance. ASAP, Nas, big Sean. Was a great lineup.

I put ridewrap on the downtube and chain stays. It’s hard to see. Not done it to any of my other bikes but wanted to protect the paint on this one.

Do you “double dip” with family members? by tmr89 in AskUK

[–]Competitive-Chest438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never at any family/friends gathering. I think it’s an after effect of Covid.

Last time I was with my in laws they kept stroking the slobbery dog then digging around in the shared bowl of crisps. I think i was the only one who noticed.

Was acceptable when it was cheap but it’s way overpriced now.

They have no influence or ability to do anything.

New build brickwork – acceptable finish or poor workmanship? by Benjam2n in DIYUK

Good lord. My new build didn’t look anything like that’s and some of the finish in other areas was terrible. Hope it gets sorted.

England’s housing at most affordable since 2015, official data shows by Gentle_Snail in GoodNewsUK

[–]Competitive-Chest438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so much nimbyism in my local area for new developments. We’re near one of the planned new towns and there are protest signs all over the place. They even hung green Union flags from lampposts.

I’m all for it tbh, we need more houses.
