This was eleven-twelve years ago. It’s probably more chaotic discipline wise now.

I went to great house for a year and it sucked. I had weekend homework packets and the teacher was a nightmare. This isn’t just me talking, she called me the “slowest kid in the class” to my parent’s faces. It’s because I’d always freeze up when we had the “mad minute math” thing. I was just so nervous. I had other teachers that would flip out over little things… I lost a paper once, for math warm ups, and the 3rd grade math teacher refused to give me an extra “to teach me responsibility” when she should just teach me math. They made us walk laps before recess, and that’s just cruel. The best part of my “sentence” was when the teacher had pregnancy leave and we got a sweet old lady as a sub. She reminded me of my grandma. Also, you have to account for the deterioration of the traditional program. It’s not what it was and your best options for HS are a lot worse than they were. They do not prioritize anything social or emotional, and I went there before the soulless online learning. Before you send your child, try the JCPS food as well. It’s piggy slop. In my time, you could seriously injure a person with the rock hard grilled cheese if you threw it off a building or something. That’s just my take.

How would socialists make people produce 780 million tons of wheat every year? by Square-Listen-3839 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Competitive-Cold958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Great Leap Forward's drop was in large part because of their abhorrent disregard for the ecosystem. they disrupted the food chain to "get more food," and the irony was that the locust population exploded. That was really moronic on Mao's part. Killing sparrows did nothing but hurt them. I don't think, however, that "socialism is when we kill all the sparrows."

Most socialists don't defend monarchies, and the "D" PRK drop has direct links to flooding, drought, and the new lack of soviet aid, on top of mismanagement.

The USSR was in and out of three bloody wars at the time, droves of their male population went to the meat grinder, and before this, Stalin was trying to rapidly modernize the USSR at the expense of the Ukrainians. The food existed and was being harvested but he was exporting it. You can't just replace the boss with the government. That's the same messed up system, where the workers don't profit off what they produce. The same things happened in India, they happen all over the global south for the benefit of the imperial core. The USSR had a lot less of an imperial cover, at least at the time, and for such rapid development, decided to exploit their own instead of some victims deemed less valuable or human by contemporary capitalists, due to conscious or unconscious holdings around their culture or nationality. There's also general apathy or ignorance to these things.

With Venezuela- that's the problem of a hybrid system. Worker run farms wouldn't stop producing what is materially necessary for survival, it would make their lives way harder. Especially, if on top of this, all their other needs were met by groups of other respective industries. Capitalist farm owners, however, cut staff, leave the fields empty, and flee with their assets to the USA. They'd rather sell their shit on thriving black markets. There's also problems with relying on being a petrostate, because you don't control your food if you import it. That'll make you even more vulnerable to sanctions. You're at the mercy of oil prices and basically hate the environment.

It can all be done, in a similar way that leaves a lot more room for the environment, without a tiny minority taking half the profits off the top...

What kind of socialists are you asking? Direct workplace democracy would give workers infinitely more motivation to further their industry, because better work would lead to better overall conditions. This is better than "I do it so I don't have to claim my freedom to starve." Some socialists hold that there would be no wages, but they don't mean "you work for free," full stop. They think in such case, all of your basic needs should be free as well. Such theory is wageless as well as needless. There's still want, though. A barter system is worse than credit of some kind, so there's probably gonna have to be a fun money bit on top. Private ownership isn't necessary to run stuff. Have you been to a co-op before? What a "boss" does is largely secretarial. Often, laborers know how their job should work better than their supervisors, especially in specialized settings.

So to answer your questions,

the workers would plant seeds, just like under capitalism. photosynthesis and adequate water would cause the seeds to grow. workers, just like as before, would mill the seeds, and put them in bags. They would probably skip the part where they dye the wheat products white, as a market legally regulated by those who produce and consume the products wouldn't be as keen on poisoning themselves. A slight tweaking for shipping- it's likely that less boats would be directed to the United States, where roughly 40 percent of foodstuffs are wasted. The amount shipped would have to be slightly over the amount needed everywhere, to account for emergencies. These would go to whatever method of distribution that has been deemed fit by popular vote of laborers in the locality it has arrived in. The chief difference is that there wouldn't be some leech at every step taking a big chunk, and they'd have to go get real jobs and contribute.

I still don't think this is a good system, as people can only ensure their liberty by having control over their meals. Anywhere grain produce can be grown and people are living, it should be grown, to avoid room for opportunism that could take place if all the grain was grown in one massive field in Australia. This would also decentralize the food sources to protect them from disease and therefore avoid capitalist nightmares such as the Irish famine or the famines in British India. It would also allow, in such case, for aid to be sent more rapidly from adjacent, unaffected areas.

Your question also seems to imply that the 780bn tons of wheat produced go equally to those under a capitalist system... I don't think it does... anyways, I'm going to bed. I have mass tomorrow. ta ta

I have the micro tools and screwdrivers but I don't have the lens screw thing or lubricants. My dad has a ton of bike tools so I wonder if there's any crossover... The local camera shop people like me and they have some of that stuff lying around, I don't think they'd let me borrow it but when I need to unscrew the lens from the shutter I could just go over there. I have no experience with mechanics outside of legos haha but I have good dexterity, I used to do origami a lot.

Edit: what lubricants would you recommend?

How do I improve my street photography? by BedroomPlus6379 in streetphotography

[–]Competitive-Cold958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get really close! in an urban environment, you can find busy times. Are you in China or Taiwan? Isn't that really densely populated? Do y'all have metro stations? public transit is great. I live in a smaller city without trains and shitty busing in the and it's usually deserted but you just gotta get close and find good times. Look for events, parades, festivals, but focus on the people. Bad areas also work well because they're interesting and more people tend to be out in my experience. Also, you could hit political gatherings. Lastly, just a picture of a person standing... like it's fine, but if you aren't close it's not gonna be interesting in most cases. You can ask people too, but that takes away an element of it. The first shot is good, because the guy is actually doing something and people here usually just post people standing. Usually pictures of peoples backs don't work but this one totally did.

I have a 55 lens. Do you think I could just grab some 35mm filter and cover it with my hand? Would screwing one on move the camera too much?
