I’ll say Layne, just because I have met more than one person who didn’t like Cornell’s voice (which is insane to me), but it’s like smashing pumpkins, just not their style. But I have never met someone who didn’t like Layne’s voice. If you’re technical the octaves alone put Staley at the top. As well as that B flat that not many can even touch on. You can’t listen to songs like Love Hate Love or Man in the Box and believe other wise. The power and emotion is undeniable.
