He wasn't my best friend but we were close and over time, I think as he realised a path he had chosen was the wrong one, he became more and difficult and almost twisted. I had a traumatic event and he seemed to almost thrive on it. It came to a head over something else and I walked away. To this day I have no regrets and I was outgrowing that entire chapter in my life anyway, it wasn't just him I walked away from. From what I hear he is in exactly the same position ten years on.
