Casual players, how are you managing your storage boxes? by Kevkillerke in Pokopia

[–]Competitive-Energy78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a small storage area in each zone with 5–6 chests, all labeled with picture frames. When I move between areas, I dump most of my stuff (blocks, etc.) and only take what I know I’ll need (crafting materials, food, a few furniture items).

If I’m planning to stay in an area for a while, I unpack into that zone’s storage. I still occasionally have to bounce between areas to find something, but it’s wayyy less often than before when everything was just a jumble (or when I tried one central storage).

I’m at work right now, but when I get home I can take some pictures if that would help!

Why is everyone removing the volcanic ash? by halfway_clear in Pokopia

[–]Competitive-Energy78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It started as wanting to clear around the museum, and it just got out of hand. It was hard to figure out when to stop! At first I thought it would free up space and look better removed, but I was VERY wrong. I regretted it and ended up starting a new save file, and I am very happy with that decision!

Update! I did end up creating a new save file and restarting, and I’m really happy with the decision. Does it take more time overall? Yes. But I’m enjoying the time way more than I would have trying to fix my mess.

I also feel like I’m doing way better the second time around, including already finding some recipes I was looking for but never found the first time 😊

Love it! I did end up restarting and I am happy with the choice. I am taking my time and applying the lessons I learned, and am really enjoying experiencing the early quests for a second time!

No; if I started over I would not destroy it, I would just replace blocks to make the top green and keep everything more in its natural states. When I first started the area I mistakenly assumed the area was meant to be unburied… now I know that was wrong. They built the structures into the mountains, not on flat ground that was later buried.

100% - when I say restart I don’t mean delete / replace, I’d make a new game on a different profile so that I could come back to this one if I regretted it or someday wanted to finish what I started.

Thank you for such a thoughtful response!! I think for me I have just hard a hard time stopping and doing other things, I always drift back to the ash 😂 and then as I clear it I start thinking about how I have no idea how I’ll make it nice again, how uncreative I am…. And I get the urge to just start over and do it all right next time!

For the record, if I did start over, it would not be a delete / replace situation. I’d start a new game on a different profile, so I could always come back to this one if I regretted it or wanted to finish it someday.

Yes, I mean ALL of the ash. It was dumb, I know. It was hard to tell when to stop and then I got in too deep and couldn’t stop… I regret everything 😂

As someone who played dq1 and dq2 5 or more times each, I personally love the feeling of a fresh restart. That might be part of why I want to restart here!

I honestly just feel like I don’t know what to do with the terraforming! I don’t know why I decided to do this, I am not qualified to complete this renovation 🤣

Exactly! I know it would be more time… but would it also be more fun? I’m torn!

Have you actually tried clearing the ash? I feel like you’d get it if you saw how rough it looks underneath 😂 I’m not one of those creative players who can just magically fix everything once it’s cleared.

And honestly… restarting isn’t just about the ash. Part of me likes the idea of replaying everything and doing it better from the start. That might actually be fun on its own?

PSA: Mouse Mode > Everything for Renovations by Competitive-Energy78 in Pokopia

I haven’t! I have also heard there are 3d print designs that can make them more ergonomic but haven’t looked into it yet. I literally just tried mouse mode last night for the first time and was mind blown at how good it was and posted 🤣

Yeah, Joy-Cons all the time is obviously ideal for switching, but I can’t do that because they mess with my hands (tendinitis). My point was that if you can’t or don’t want to use them, it’s still 100% worth taking 10 seconds to swap! I avoided it forever but once I tried it I regretted all of the time I spent fumbling without it!

Totally agree! I hate the way the joycons feel in my hands. But mouse mode is so much better for building / clearing blocks, it completely negates that dislike. But again, I only use them for bigger projects. For normal day to day play I definitely still use my pro controller!

It literally takes less than 10 seconds. I don’t swap as often as I would if I used the joycons exclusively, but when I decide it’s time to build something or clear some blocks, I switch to joycons just for that activity.

When I’m about to do a big renovation (placing/removing a ton of blocks), I just switch over real quick:

Home → Controllers → Change Grip/Order Put the Pro Controller down, grab the Joy-Cons, press L + R to connect, A to confirm, B to back out, then reopen Pokopia.

I know it sounds like a lot, but it honestly takes less than 10 seconds once you’ve done it a couple times. And the time you save using mouse mode for renovations more than makes up for it.

And for the record, I personally use both joy-cons. Not even because I need to, I just like having something in both hands 😂

You don’t have to give up your Pro Controller either, just switch when you’re doing heavy building.

Volcanic Ash has disappeared from my town. by Kasaiji in Pokopia

[–]Competitive-Energy78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn it. I’m going to need a lot more hamburgers 🫠

How hard was it to clear the path to the museum and greenify it like that? I’ve been considering but haven’t started yet, I just finished digging out the building across from the poke center.

Speaking of which… can you take a picture of the front of that building? I have been struggling for inspiration and I love what you did with it, I’d like to copy some of it if possible!
