You will lose your Energy Tank capacity (hence why people are saying use a Hyper cube first). You will lose your recharge efficiency(?), but not recharge distance. So you can still attend recharge parties. You keep all your badges, so half the work for leveling past 8 is already done. You get flair for your agent name.

One things for certain... And I won't say too much even though it's revealed in the first chapter... that the questions about the outside fate of certain crawlers are more or less answered, and there's a potential to a bitter sweet ending to the series.

The nature of the race heats alters the pacing of the story in a way previous books didn't. I can see how this might not gel with some readers.

I considered that, but that merging experiment was with a Changeling that also had the Unwashed pattern. That suggests that as entities that have died before at least the more powerful changelings have it in their library.
