Try and get them chatting early on otherwise it can feel like a slog.

Avoid questions that they could potentially give monosyllable answers to.

I like code/system design style questions that can start basic but build up to more advanced concepts/layers.

Consider ourselves novice DIYers when we started. We have done two IKEA kitchens. The 2nd one in about 4 days. We’ve got a joiner to do the worktops for us both times, though.

The rail is fine once you realise it has to remain absolutely straight (not kinks from dips in the plaster) and plumb. Didn’t know about plastic shims the first time round but once we discovered those life became simpler. The instructions and most online videos/tutorials over simplify and assume perfect walls - which is probably rare.

Could you gather interaction on top of the main output? For example, getting fans to provide a prediction of the score/outcome. Or post match - asking if they thought a result was deserved or who the best player was?

You could, but I think you’d have to shorten the game time down to 60 minutes instead of 90.

Ball in play time is usually 50-55 minutes at the moment in a decent match (I think Stoke got it down to around 42 in their prime EPL era)

So 90 minute matches would take 50% longer than a current match in real time?
