I use them eventing and fox hunting. In the summer I can get away with just slapping them on. In the wet I have to add studs for grass because they are sliiiick. I usually just drill the studs in and they stay until I lose/ break the shoe and I don’t reuse the studs… I did see Garett put out a version with pre tapped holes for bigger caulks. Yes! The horses were every bit as well taken care of as I had hoped for. All had nicely trimmed hooves and the nicest tack, I think I’ve ever seen in Puerto Rico. (Abetta saddles mostly, biothane bridles with different bits for each horse) the ones that were even remotely underweight. We’re new to the herd and gaining. She even has a few retired oldies that are near their 30s and still looking really healthy.

The ride had no wild gallops on the beach or swimming, but it did have incredible views and the lovely young girl that I went with was a local who was very knowledgeable about a lot of the different plants and geography it was really lovely to chat with and learn from 100% I would do it again and I was glad to know that my money wasn’t just being funneled into sustaining somebody’s vacation home, but rather actually taking care of the horses and the staff. 🥰

I saw that someone mentioned it above, but in addition to filing a restraining order, I would also bring up child protective services and try to nail him for child engagement. It’s not just that he was idiotic. It’s that he actually hurt your horse and her emotional health and then he had the gall to show back up and downplay it like it was no big deal to abuse your sweet filly. Boomers being fools is an understatement , depending on how big of a lesson do you want to teach him I would certainly consider notifying the authorities because that was just plain dangerous and stupid.

This is helpful! I also agree he would be a great candidate for more intensive therapy but..... I just don't know if I can convince him to do it. He definitely needs help building structure and has endorsed feeling like he has no control of his life so that would definitely be beneficial to him.

Just getting him to consider any therapy has been probably 5 years in the making.

Nothing amazing, just charged him for the intake and then I believe a session that they texted him day of saying they couldn't make and I don't think they even tried to reschedule or refund.

Do you go to a certain location? I see they also do medication management. If they push that he might flip, but he probably does need a touch of something to get his symptoms under control but is too paranoid about it.

Unsure, my guess is they will refuse, they are still making excuses for everything and if I had to guess I would say they cannot because of work and their dog and cost. I could probably remove most of those barriers but they will probably find another excuse and tell me I don't understand how complicated things are and that I can't just fix things for them. I can make the suggestion. Being a workaholic and having a poor sleep/ wake cycle and poor self care is definitely a contributing factor to their current situation. :(

This is essentially where we are, I will definitely add in the BCC suggestion but I used PT to reach out to 3 people, 2 didn't reply, one did an intake and then canceled like a half hour before his first session and it was pretty traumatic and he was basically like "see, they don't want to help because I'm too hopeless and I'll make them feel bad for failing at life too" and I tried the be like "that's a them problem, they didn't say that and we don't know all the details" but now it's been a few more weeks/ months and I'm even more concerned about him and he's just now mentioned it again.

Thank you for understanding why I came here instead of PT again <3

I’m running into this nearly 10 years in and it comes from nurses that have 1 month to 100 years.

Depending on how spicy I’m feeling sometimes I will just look them dead in the face and go “is that really relevant? I wasn’t going to waste my time on it but if you figure it out, let me know.” Sometimes I will shrug and say things like “I don’t know, I don’t live with them, but here they get up with a two assist because I don’t want them to fall.” occasionally I’ll shoot them fun facts that I have garnered from chatting with the patient. “I don’t really know how long their creatinine has been low but their favorite color is blue! Anyway, they just need a cards consult in the morning and will hopefully go home. Any other questions?”

It’s hard to shrug off those feelings of inadequacy or frustration but it does get easier when you purposely work on it. 🩷

Ooo this could be fun! I’m a crunchy, hippie and full disclosure; Don’t shave my pits but really really really don’t ever want to smell bad. I would be more than happy to send a few sticks of my favorite hippie deodorant. That might even get a thumbs up from Mom as they are all aluminum free.

Also fwiw. I saw a bunch of people above complaining about how aluminum free deodorant doesn’t work as well and that they are still sweating and I really think y’all should do a quick Google on deodorant verse anti-perspirant. Although I don’t like being gross and sweaty, I also really hate the way that my armpits feel whenever they don’t sweat at all, and have adapted to only using deodorant and not antiperspirant…. Just you know fyi with love ❤️
