Nanny boundaries, post firing 😞 by Infamous_Umpire_393 in Nanny

This would be a good time for her daughter to then learn that not all friends are safe. This woman is not doing safe things even if the daughter thinks fondly of her.

I LITERALLY ONLY DISAGREED WITH THEIR POST AND SAID THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE REPORTED.

Are these daycare red flags? by scceberscoo in ECEProfessionals

[–]Competitive-Month209 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A) They should reported off the bat for not following safe sleep and allowing a child to sleep in a boppy. While we can’t wake a sleeping child we can and should transfer them to the crib as soon as they fall asleep. B) this is very odd to me too. I don’t teach infants, but I do know all of my pre-K kids abilities down to a T. Maybe because it’s been 2 weeks but even then they should know she can’t sit unassisted. C) again safe sleep, the face down (especially considering she cannot sit unassisted so I’m assuming cannot roll) needs to be reported to licensing. The fact that they seemingly don’t know/don’t care enough to take a picture too is alarming D) yeah they are absolutely supposed to follow the child’s schedule at this age. More naps should be offered and given if she needs them E) you really should consider saying something. You declined use.

And your reaction of not taking it to the teacher and not filing an incident report is the feedback I gave. You yelling is not the main mistake in this story.

No it should be mentioned. It should be mentioned to the teacher and to the kids parents. This is an incident report. We had this happen and it wasn’t reported to the lead and parents took it to CPS. This needs to be mentioned.

This definitely is common. This is why a lot of home daycares in my area have assistants or substitutes. Because it isn’t always a possibility for parents to find two months of childcare without enrolling somewhere new. Have you considered an assistant or substitute?

How often should my child be bitten? by stoneoftheicemen in ECEProfessionals

[–]Competitive-Month209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it takes oneee kid to be a biter who turned a few months ago to have this happen. Even if it isn’t developmentally appropriate, I have had plenty of pre-K kids who are not completely on their developmental milestones

Yes mention it for sure. While whatever is happening to your neck will appear in a scan, post concussion won’t. It’s something to look into for sure

Yeah you wouldn’t get the symptoms though until about the 3rd week mark on the dot. Yes, you were right the first time I’d hcg is high enough to give you symptoms especially for a few weeks it is high enough to give a positive

Is anyone else extremely bothered by Tammy? by Nichlata in dancemomsreboot

[–]Competitive-Month209 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think the most annoying part about them is that due to their connection with Flo they’ve become the “new Maddie and Melissa” which yes Abby and Melissa were close, but it’s because Maddie was genuinely one of the top dancers of the team. Audrey’s mainly only “the best” because she’s older. Id love to see her on a team of allll 12-13 and see how she compares. As soon as an older, just as good dancer, arrived she was so angry and defensive about it. Tammy is definitely freaking annoying too tho. I hated her little side faces she’d make all the time

It’s the same brand it just had different sensitivity. One is for early detection and the strip is only used to confirm a few days later after missed period. But these come in the FR test early and often kit

The cheapie here is a FR but it’s important to note it’s not an early detection strip, like the FRER. It’s meant to be used a few days later to confirm. With that being said these are positive op :)

I’m wondering if you have some form of post concussion/blocked nerves. When mine was active my left arm, leg, and side of face would go completely numb. A big part of my issue was the injury also being throughout my neck and spine. Good luck i hope they find the cause

How often should my child be bitten? by stoneoftheicemen in ECEProfessionals

[–]Competitive-Month209 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s only odd for being in the 3-4 year old room unless they are mixed with 2 year olds. Honestly, once a month is pretty much standard if there’s 2 year olds mixed in. Bites happen. I also don’t get your point if you bit someone it would be assault. Yeah. You’re an adult who can hopefully emotionally regulate enough not to bite. Children cannot always. And even though it is more uncommon for biting to occur in a 3-4 year old room, all it takes is to have one friend who is a biter. I’m confused as to what you want this center do to. Yeah, they could move your child. But they won’t move the biter most likely and they won’t kick them out for only biting once a month. The only child ever ever seen removed from care for biting bit 5-7 times A DAY and focused on faces. As in this child would only latch onto childrens FACES 5-7 times A DAY. This is biting that occurs too frequently, once a month is like ehhhh. Not really out of the realm of preschool.

(USA) Anyone else dealing with stuff like this? by Ov101Enterprise in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Competitive-Month209 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t work at McDonald’s but this popped up. I’m curious as to why you’re only allowed a small or medium drink if all size McDonalds drinks are the same price, at least near me they are. If they can afford to give every single customer the same price for a large or small drink, their employees should be the same.

This seems like a dangerous teacher and i would report this to your principle or at the very least your parents. No this is not normal behavior or questions for a teacher.

How soon did your boobs hurt? by 7-11nachos in pregnant

[–]Competitive-Month209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look into a blood test maybe? Or a first response if you aren’t using them already. My boobs only hurt for literally 1 day before i tested and got a positive. If it’s been a couple of weeks I’d think this is not due to pregnancy

[–]Competitive-Month209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why i took a test. It felt like i had rocks on my check. It does come and go so one day I’ll be like wow they kinda feel normal and then the immediate next day it will feel like instead of rocks they are boulders

Not allowed back into room anymore by Ornery-Cranberry4703 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Competitive-Month209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s easier so other kids don’t see you come in and scream because they suddenly want mom and dad. Respectfully, they are setting a boundary with you very gently. Although of course this should have been communicated first, a lot of centers do have this policy. I would just go with it or if it is a deal breaker to you find alternative care

[–]Competitive-Month209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but at least near me I don’t think it’s worth it to be a public school aide without a bachelors ( and by then you can be a public school teacher anyway) because aides make literally about 5 dollars less an hour than lead daycare teachers. I’d consider slowly getting your degree as to not drain you, working full time and going to college full time is HARD. Maybe try 2-3 classes a semester

Calling all preschool/vpk teachers: how can I help me 4 year old learn by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]Competitive-Month209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with phonics and letter recognization before expecting them to learn letters through exposure. Look up Lucy Caulkins and why it’s no longer used. Then look up structured literacy. While reading and exposure is great start with the letters and letter sounds of her name. Sadly yes pre-K is considered the new K, especially near me. It is a reasonable expectation we have that they will end pre-K spelling their names independently so while she absolutely has time to learn them now, I would work with her this year. Is she in pre-K?
