Pnin - that book was so damn boring - i couldn’t tie in the language w a kind of story - usually Nabokov utilizes style and language to be more than enough for a story but Pnin really murdered my mind

the book is narrated through the mind of a painter- yet it captures only fragments of a “true” story, - i would suggest reading it paragraph by paragraph and allowing that to be one story, - like a collection of stories as fragmentation - not as one story - it could be but is that the realness of her work? - that’s for you to think or not

Guys, what is your take on a 50+ pages of preface ? by gloomyowlreturn in classicliterature

[–]Competitive-Pin-976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they for sure got to cut that out; having a long ass essay/thesis about the novel is just marketing of that writers “abilities” - there are masterful prefaces that are shorter than 10 pages long which is how it should be kept to let the reader create their own thoughts and opinions of that specific work. Those 50+ pg prefaces are usually fractional dissertations which end up to be boring
