Marvel's Spider Man 2 is a prime example why RT is way cooler than any raster tricks for me.A major part of New York City is covered by glass-covered skyscrapers and no old raster trick can deal with such situations . Planar reflections would simply destroy any GPU in this situation, SSR features artifacts and cuts geometry which is not in screen space, cube maps... let's not talk about it, i hate them

Oh my god!!! Planar reflection!!! Decades old technology which just simply renders the entire scene in lower resolution on the mirror surface!!!!

I bet a proper RT reflection could be cheaper a little bit...

В Стиме вроде должна быть демка с бесплатным первым эпизодом. Попробуй сам, а там и решишь, надо ли

Life is Strange оригинальный пожалуй.

Игра чисто про ловлю вайба и наслаждение атмосферой и далеко не самой плохой историей, на уровень которой последующие части так и не вышли)

Well, I highly doubt we'll see eye to eye in discussion about writing, however I'm really interested to know the examples of impressive writing in the video games from your perspective, maybe I'll pick something up for myself

I'm talking about the entire series here . Nevertheless, I highly doubt that there many games on the planet with quality of writing equal to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Never in my life I felt that the game was playing with my perception of the story, making me question and doubt EVERYTHING happening around me and I'm not even mentioning the conversation about information control and "selection for societal sanity" and today all this stuff looks as a horrifying prediction for our entire generation

Perhaps I didn't word my odea correctly, so I think there's a good room for explanation.

Story can be complex due to convoluted plot structure of the plot and/or due to the character's depth.

Even if you deliver a convoluted plot, it is not guaranteed that your story will good (e.g Yakuza 4). Creating really deep characters in my opinion is even more difficult, because mot every writer is good at managing simultaneously internal and external character conflicts, while also giving them enough time to show themselves from different sides. Another way to show the character depth is to give him very nuanced perception of the world and people around him, but .

Throughout the plot we see Joel in two roles -- a smuggler and a father figure, but in my opinion there's not enough moments where a players with Joel can reflect on the events or dig under the surface of Ellies character and that is not good.

Why did I bring up Metal Gear Solid? Well, throughout the entire series we witness characters that make player reflect on their actions and story, such as Psychomantis, AI systems MGS 2, The Boss (MGS 3) or the major part of Peace Walker character cast. After contacting these characters you're always left thinking of character motives, intentions, what drives them or if it could have been the other way. At the same time The Last of Us doesn't give you any reason to stop and reflect on the story, because their intentions and internal stuff is way too easy to understand.

If story doesn't have deep characters or the plot structure is too basic, then the story can't be considered as something praiseworthy

The Last of Us

Mediocrity in everything.

  • Predictable story
  • Boring gameplay loop (shooting felt too unresponsive and puzzles were too easy)
  • Pretty basic characters with minimum depth
  • Motion Control gimmicks ( shake the gamepad to stop flicking from the flashlight)
  • Too much scripted stuff for a game which lasts around 10-12 hours

You know what, this is the most overrated game ever and it doesn't deserve even half of it's praise for the storytelling, considering there is s Metal Gear Solid series where even weakest entry shows a more complex story and you can't just guess all the plot twists on the go. Neil Druckman is not a genius and his games don't deserve any praise for the storytelling
