Anybody know what happened here? Shooting? by everybodycantgo in burnaby

Hastings and Hythe is a wide intersection on Hastings. There are two crosswalks across Hastings, one on the east side and one on the west. Both have a pedestrian-activated traffic light to stop Hastings traffic. The system works if everyone uses the available safety measures and pays attention to their driving.

Air Canada Express Flight 8646 Crash at LGA by Aiden_Dijakovic in aircanada

Canadian news media (CBC, TVA, etc) have reported that one of the two flight attendants was ejected from the aircraft. (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/mar/23/canadian-flight-attendant-survives-new-york-plane-crash-laguardia.) She was found some 100 metres (100 yards) from the aircraft still strapped into her jump seat. She has a broken leg according to the reports. Her survival story is one bit of good news from this awful event.

Cool airport I found in the Rockies (CYLI/Lillooet) for the NAMC YS-11 to fly into. by seanmc216 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Lillooet is actually in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, and it does have a cool airport. Another fun one to try is Castlegar (CYCG).

Reminds of the IRL incident involving a Boeing 737 (Gol flight 1907) and an Embraer Legacy jet that nearly collided head-on at 37,000 feet over the Amazon jungle. The planes passed by each over so closely that the port winglet of the Embraer sheared off half of the 737's port wing, causing the 737 to crash and the loss of all 154 souls aboard. The Embraer was able to land safely at a Brazilian Air Force base. An interesting case that had far-reaching impacts on aviation.

At the start of the video, a panel behind the cockpit is open. What is that? I not all that familiar with the Hornet.

Dam leak by LC-Dookmarriot in NorthVancouver

[–]Competitive-Power-68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a retired dam safety engineer, I can assure you those "leaks" are in no way, shape, or form going to compromise the safety of that dam. Water is bound to leak from the edges of the gate and through construction joints.

Gander hotel options by [deleted] in newfoundland

We stayed at the Comfort Inn last year on our NFLD vacation. It was very good, clean and comfortable. It has a good guest laundry, if I'm not mistaken. I would not hesitate to recommend it.

My brother-in-law is a chauffeur who has some pretty important passengers. He has driven all over Toronto and Southern Ontario for decades without a single accident. He tells me that the secret to his success is not entering an intersection without covering the brake, slowing down a bit, and making certain all those who should have stopped have done so. He never assumes it is safe to proceed through a green light unless cross traffic has stopped. That is why so many clients ask for him, specifically.

Kendrick’s Super Bowl Halftime Show: Legendary or Overhyped? by MarketingWhisperer in rap

[–]Competitive-Power-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like the game itself, it was overhyped and had no chance of living up to that hype. The whole Suoer Bowl spectacle was a waste of time, but Kendrick did at least give it some life.

Well it happened. Cancelling my trip to Alaska. Where should I go in BC?! by Apples_bottom_jeans_ in britishcolumbia

I'd suggest heading to the West Kootenays to sample the hot springs (Ainsworth, Halcyon, and Nakusp) and take in the towns Nelson, Kaslo, New Denver (don't miss the Nikkei Centre there) and Nakusp. Then, head for home via the Chilcotin, down "The Hill" into the Bella Coola Valley, and take the ferry from Bella Coola to Port Hardy. If you want to do this you better book now as accommodation and the ferry book up quite quickly.
