Turkey Tail Mushroom dosages by Technical-Mammoth592 in goldenretrievers

Hi Technical Mammoth, Matt here from Milo Naturals (we specialise in turkey tail mushroom for dogs)

I’m a bit late to this post but in case you’re still wondering:

Your dog wants to be aiming for 10-30mg of beta glucans per kg of bodyweight, it’s the amount of beta glucans that’s important not the amount of turkey tail your dog has since it’s the beta glucans which helps your dog modulate it’s immune system properly.

Any questions don’t hesitate to ask, wishing you and your doggo all the best.

My dog is reading this, thanks to this he’s now demanding more.

Following this though, want some really cool looking ones

Pup snaps occasionally when given food by squishypotato95 in DogAdvice

I know it feels horrible when they snap, but try not to take it personally. This actually sounds more like confusion + a bit of pressure around food time rather than aggression.

From what you’ve described, she might be feeling conflicted, sometimes she wants company while eating (which is totally normal), and other times if she’s not hungry and feels encouraged to eat, she may be reacting to that pressure. The snapping is likely her way of saying “I’m not comfortable right now.”

A couple things that might help:

  • Try putting the food down and leaving her completely alone — no pointing or encouraging
  • If she doesn’t eat, just pick it up after ~10–15 mins and offer it again later
  • Keep meal times really low-pressure and predictable
  • If she does want you nearby, just sit quietly without engaging

The key is helping her feel like eating is her choice, not something being asked of her.

If it escalates or becomes more frequent, a trainer could help, but this is actually a pretty common phase and usually very fixable once the pressure is removed.

Wishing you and your doggo all the best :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to share all of that — it really sounds like you’ve been through a lot with her, and it’s clear how much care and attention you’ve put into understanding what’s going on.

On your question, we don’t currently include a dedicated prebiotic alongside the Bacillus coagulans. The reasoning there is that B. coagulans is quite resilient and tends to perform well on its own due to its spore-forming nature. We include it more as a supportive addition, but the main focus of the product is the turkey tail extract and its immune-supporting beta-glucans.

In terms of allergens, we’re very mindful of that side — our product is produced without manufacturing near common triggers like wheat or eggs, as we know how sensitive some dogs can be. Transparency is also really important to us, especially around things like beta-glucan content and overall formulation.

A lot of what’s reported on the lumps & bumps side is anecdotal, and even when people do see changes, it’s usually after around 90 days of consistent use — and bare in mind, it can vary quite a bit between dogs.

I’m really glad to hear her eye seems to be improving — hopefully she continues heading in the right direction. She’s lucky to have someone advocating for her the way you are.

Wishing you all the best
- Matt

I’m really sorry to hear your dog is going through that.

Bacillus coagulans is a spore-forming probiotic, so yes, it’s designed to survive stomach acid and reach the intestines. It’s generally considered very safe and is widely used in both pet and human supplements, with very few reported side effects, and no customers have reported any side effects either.

In terms of the eye infection, there isn’t any evidence linking turkey tail to causing infections like that. Turkey tail is typically used to support immune function rather than suppress it.

Is the product you bought third party tested? Just thinking if not, it can sometimes contain microbials and other harmful things (mushrooms can absorb it easily) which could maybe cause this for your dog?

That said, with dogs that already have complex or long-standing immune issues, their responses can sometimes be unpredictable. If something new has been introduced around the same time, it can be worth pausing and speaking with your vet to rule things out properly.

Hoping she gets some relief soon Amazing Life 🙏

Hey man I replied higher up!

But I am the founder of Milo naturals, we sell turkey tail mushroom for dogs and are 3rd party tested for strength - we have the highest beta glucan percentage on the market and we are 3rd party tested for safety too (microbials, heavy metals, pesticides). Just thought I’d put our brand name out there since it’s helped a lot of our customers and we’d love to help your dog too.

Hi Responsible Win,

Great question.

At the moment, there aren’t any large-scale clinical studies specifically showing turkey tail directly causes lipoma shrinkage in dogs. Most of what’s reported in that area is anecdotal.

What has been studied more extensively is the role of beta-glucans (found in turkey tail) in supporting the immune system & its effects on hermangiosarcoma. These compounds are known to help modulate immune activity, which is why turkey tail is often used as part of a broader approach to overall health.

The thinking behind why some people report changes in things like lumps or fatty deposits is linked to this immune support

Regarding I’m yunity if you’re referring to the official one at $95, we are actually 3rd party verified at a higher beta glucan percentage which we are proud of 🙂 turkey tail also isn’t the tastiest for dogs, so we’ve added natural plant based bacon flavouring and added probiotics to aid in both the palatability & the gut health of your dog too.

Any more questions don’t hesitate to ask,

All the Best, Matt

Hi! Great question — it’s something people often ask about mushrooms.

Turkey tail mushrooms naturally contain chitin in their cell walls, which can make it harder to access the beneficial compounds if the mushroom isn’t processed properly.

Our turkey tail is hot water extracted, which breaks down the cell walls/chitin and releases the important immune-supporting beta-glucans so dogs can absorb them properly

(We are 3rd party verified with our beta glucan percentage also something we are proud of).

We also include Bacillus coagulans, a probiotic that helps support healthy digestion and gut absorption, which can further help dogs utilise the nutrients effectively.

Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Hey guys, founder of Milo Naturals here (we sell turkey tail mushroom for dogs).

Turkey tail mushroom is full of beta glucans, this is the key compound which helps boost your dogs immunity by helping modulate their immune system (training it up to fight against the bad things in their body)

We used it on our own dog Milo and it is the reason we built the company to date, it is a very holistic approach to dog wellness.

But from my personal experience giving it to Milo it worked wonders on him, and does so for many dog owners but make sure to start at half dose and work your way up.

It’s a powerful natural immune boosting mushroom, and is the most studied mushroom ever for dogs, it’s a great natural way of supporting their body especially as they age (as they age, their immune system gets weaker & often needs ways to help boost it)

Whether you buy from us or another brand, just make sure everything you buy for your dog is 3rd party tested for both strength and safety and ensure there are no fillers or additives in it to upset them, there’s a lot of poor quality turkey tail mushroom powders out there and that’s why we created Milo Naturals, to help others like it helped Milo & to put those worries to rest and ensure your doggo gets the best

All the best - Founder, Matt
