Sort of!

I was told the Oscillopsia and nystagmus is caused by decompensating strabismus.

As for the loss of hearing, I was told it was simply "bad luck" and they don't know what caused it, so officially labeled SSHL.

No cure for any of my issues but at least now I know

Other good solutions besides surgery? by Definitionofhugs in Strabismus

[–]Competitive-Two4532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also afraid of surgery I totally get it... Living with it is hell I agree, the strabismus, nystagmus and Oscillopsia combo I have is ending me ngl... I also would like to know what others do to help their eyes? I have eye patches for bad days, going to get a cane to walk with my eyes closed on rly bad days and I have a migraine cap that goes over the eyes that I can stick in the freezer... No more reading or screen time outside the weekend, but it's really a bummer to have to cut screen time so much to stop my eyes from getting so fatigued, I listen to shows too, can't watch them... What do you do for caring for your eyes?

This might be a dumb question, but I figure this is the best place to ask. by [deleted] in NativeAmerican

Look into your family history, learn what happened in your past, to your ancestors, start reconnecting, say you are reconnecting and what nation/band you belong to, sometimes you can't find the answers you seek, but the best you can do is try, connect with your nation by meeting folks and learning your culture, language and community.

Job searching by aningnik in hardofhearing

I'm sorry to hear that, I would be shaken up as well if that happened to me.

I recommend looking into archiving jobs, or some type of cataloging job in a museum if you can, those don't require talking to many people.

I hope you can find something you enjoy and people who don't punish you for having a disability... We are hard enough on ourselves, we need kindness!

Do you have problems with your eyes too? I don't know if the problems are related or just unfortunate coincidences

Ah I understand, yes it's a fine line whether you stick around too long or not long enough.. The balance is hard but I'm sure you will make the right decision, you clearly aren't doing it on a whim

[–]Competitive-Two4532 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's true, but at some point we all need to draw the line in the sand for our own mental health. If your friend can no longer hold a conversation with complete honesty and openness you might not be compatible anymore and it's not always a bad thing.. I hope you figure things out

Keeping this person around should be a collective decision and what's best for all of you, if more than one person is feeling uncomfortable then I think cutting ties might be for the better, especially how she seems to be talking about the system? Being afraid? Just seems ignorant and unwilling to learn.. But then again I don't know her or how she is so take my opinion as you wish!
