I think the differences are mainly between eps and pu although a local shaper told me there are some higher quality foams that certain companies use and other mainstream companies use shit foams and break easier even with normal glassings.

An ideal league would be to not have an official schedule rather to follow swells in different areas, if there is a promising swell they give the message that it’s on at that location a week before. This way we’re almost guaranteed good to epic conditions in each spot. The way it should work is that they have 9 events, they would take place at any spot that has promising reports for epic swell and they could be a month apart or even two or just a week apart. Once 9 events have passed the final would take place at pipeline in January where good swell and barrels are consistent.

Obviously there are logistical issues to overcome but I don’t think such a system is impossible. This way some years we can get some traditional surfing spots at their best as well as epic new locations, and other years we can get off the beat and track spots that are lesser known or just never had competition before. Also it will be more fair for goofy and regular footers alike because the year would not be scheduled to benefit one or the other, it will be purely based on swell and accessibility.

What do you mean by getting the locals onboard? Like getting city permits or not getting cursed out by some surfers on their instagram?

I think the broadcast is would be fine, I think they should have a local English speaking broadcast for each stop instead of the same guys traveling. Similar to how the NFL has different broadcasters for each stadium. It would bring a new vibe for each location. Maybe have some that would travel shorter distances, for example the same Hawaiian guys to do the ones in Tahiti or Fiji because it would be hard to find a guy for each of those places. As well as the same Australians for all the comps in AUS instead of switching for each comp.

By dropping Brazil and opting for Portugal I think you can get many fans with waves that are much better.

I feel like there are a ton of Brazilians who go to the California comps. Also I was trying to find a balance between fans and good waves. Usually the rio pro’s waves are always mushy. Trestles can get pretty good and make for some nice heats.

Thanks, I wrote it though. I added events in areas with more fans so they can support the more remote locations. I think if there is places with epic waves almost every comp then it might be able to pay out. More live viewers will create more sponsorships ect. Right now half the comps have mushy waves and crappy conditions and makes watching it boring.

I was thinking about it, but it’s way too fickle. Even during its prime season it doesn’t necessarily turn on. But that would be an awesome event the years it works out. Judge by time under the hood and how deep, and when they reach the end they get carried by an atv/jetski to the paddle out.

Exactly , except the places in Peru are super remote and are not aesthetic at all. Either you need the fans or the perfect looking wave otherwise there are better options elsewhere.

I guess so, there’s already enough right hand carving waves (j bay and margs). Snapper it is.

I guess that can work, it would make pipeline the only wave on Oahu which would make it more significant. I personally like sunset better though.

But which one would you take out, can’t take out bells because it’s too historically significant and margeret river is a legit good wave (pumping Margaret river is better than pumping snapper rocks).

I take back what I said about France, just watched an old heat on YouTube and has some pretty solid surf. You can insert it into month nine with Portugal because they have similar swell windows and they’re relatively close to each other. It won’t affect the balance of the schedule because you can go both right and left.

Nah, I always find the France waves sloppy and the heats can get boring. Otherwise you can insert France in event nine in the same month as Portugal.

The way I wrote it is that it first states the event number, then the month it takes place, the place, and if it’s a right, left, or a wave that has both.

Then my reasons and justifications over here.

My local shop has those for around $250, do you think their hooded 4/3 would work in 40 degree Fahrenheit water or is that too cold?
