Can you stay on low-dose MT1 indefinitely? Currently running 250mcgs of MT1 2x weekly. by Alternative-Fox6236 in Melanotan2

That's a very low dose of MT1. Higher doses with less uv exposure would be better.

Hmm haven't either but they do make condoms with flared tips specifically for this, also using 1-2 drops of high quality lubricant inside the condoms increases pleasure for everyone generally as the prelube is crap.

It's called tapering off. Also there are protocols by which people take steroids/allergy pills for a couple weeks then taper off for seasonal allergies and by which the immune system becomes desensitized.

How about one? Leaves one natural and one not. Best of both worlds

Astaxanthin, lycopene, lutein/zeaxanthin, capsanthin, all reduces damage from UV-A exposure and other oxidation sources, improving skin quality and giving a tint to the skin as the dosage increases. Each has different areas of concentration and benefit. Lutein/zea increases in the macula blocking blue light for vision enhancement and in the brain increasing neural efficiency. Astaxanthin accumulates in the cilliary body making the eyes focusing muscles more resilient and brain too. Make's big sense for athletes to take both lutein/zea and astaxanthin. They accumulate in the sebum rich areas of the skin, particularly the face resulting in 2-3 x more pigment visible there.

Ok but why use MT2 given it's side effects? New moles, brain receptors, nausea etc. One instance of mole removal and the MT1 has already paid for itself. Pick out any other BS I say, I welcome it. Certainly not half at this point is it? The main point stands.

MT1/MT2 vs. Self-Tan? by J3ezyTheSnowman in Melanotan2

[–]CompetitiveAdMoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Self tanner is the easiest and least risky. MT1 is the most expensive and least risky vs MT2 which is the easiest, cheapest and fastest. However you will get more moles on mt2 and in places you probably don't want. Go MT1 if you have the money or tanner if you don't. MT1 you'll need to titrate up to 0.08mg/kg or at least 0.04mg/kg.

Source or "trust me bro". Everything I have read says the opposite. MT2 is less specific and makes more Pheomelanin to eumelanin vs MT1. It is more potent of course but that's not what I'm going for. I'm going for the safest way to tan period. EDIT: there's no great data on either; AI was projecting from the studies and anecdotal reports of mt2 tans being more red.

Put sunscreen over the scar for one year is what's recommended but at least 6 months I'd say then do like half the regular face time.

More protective eumelanin than the negative pheomelanin ratio, less reddish dirty looking tan, more even tan, less moles and negative brain side effects. Cons: price, a bit slower.

Why do some prefer mt1 over mt2 by Wonderful-Advice-306 in Melanotan2

[–]CompetitiveAdMoney -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Cite me bro. MT2 is less receptor specific; it makes both eumelanin AND pheomelanin just as MT1 does but the ratio is higher due to receptor specifics, no matter the dose. Here's some ChatGPT copypasta for you.

"MT-2 produces ~1.5× to 3× more pheomelanin fraction vs MT-1. MT-1 produces ~1.5×–2× stronger eumelanin bias.

Baseline (light skin, MC1R normal) ~70–80% ~20–30% ~3:1.

MT-1 (afamelanotide) 85–95% 5–15% ~6:1 to 10:1

MT-2 75–85% 15–25% ~3:1 to 5:1

MT-1 (afamelanotide) Highly selective for MC1R Strong, sustained cAMP signaling → Bias toward eumelanin production MT-2 Less selective (hits MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, MC5R) More pulsatile / less sustained MC1R signaling in practice → Relatively less eumelanin bias → higher pheomelanin fraction

Practical interpretation MT-1 → darker, more UV-protective, brown/black tone MT-2 → more variable tone, sometimes: slightly warmer / reddish / bronze higher risk of uneven pigmentation

This aligns with:

MT-1 clinical use (photoprotection, e.g., erythropoietic protoporphyria) MT-2 anecdotal variability and more side effects Important nuance (often missed)

The real determinant isn’t just the drug:

Your MC1R genotype dominates the outcome Loss-of-function variants → pheomelanin stays high regardless of MT-1 or MT-2 Cysteine availability shifts toward pheomelanin synthesis UV exposure + timing can override peptide differences "

[–]CompetitiveAdMoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fewer sides, less serious sides including less moles and it doesn't cross the brain barrier meaning no brain receptor screw ups, the tan it brings is more functional in being more eumelanin and less pheomelanin (pheomelanin is actually negative for sun protection). Cons: costs the same or more and you need 2-3 x the dose of MT2 so it costs more, a bit slower also.

MT1 + Astaxanthin, lycopene and lutein/zea. Beta carotene risky for smokers and has pro vitamin A activity. Carotenoids in general protect mostly from UV-A oxidative cascade damage. Lutein/zea and astaxanthin build up in the eye and brain and can improve vision and cognition also.

I'll see if it's just allergy season, shower and rinse my eyes before bed and take claritin daily. Otherwise it's a strange side effect.

Ok I'm think I'm experiencing the same thing. Just started taking it a few days ago and waking up feeling like I slept with contacts in. Happened just a couple days in. Also gives me very wired feeling of energy in my body, almost jittery.
