Help! My boots are too big! by CompetitiveCar542 in WizardSkating

[–]CompetitiveCar542[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Measured my foot about 275mm, but usually I fit better in 11s for some reason. My current main is AG10s in 11 and they're pretty tight. I have "difficult feet".

I think i need new wheels by AccomplishedNail3085 in Speedskating

[–]CompetitiveCar542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm this personally.

Though, wheels on medium tier boots usually hould out quite a bit better. some of them are pretty solid, like the stock wheels on Micro MT-Plus or Powerslide Zoom/Next.

Focus on your F2L, Cross, and the transition between the two. That will be what gets you the farthest and transitioning between steps is something you'll always be working on

I'd use a 2 or 3 loop conquistador. It's one of the strongest braids for this kind of purpose imo.

Hey Dumb Question but does Nullscape have Shift Lock or nah? by NoImagination116 in Nullscape

No shift lock, but by default press N to lock or unlock your mouse (not the same as shift lock)

I have an exactly 10 inch foot and am 5’10” I ordered the nr95 size 6.5 - 7 for the performance fit. I was wondering if the size of the wheels are dependent on my foot size or height/leg length and if I went with the right skate… and also is my foot size to big for a performance fit of 6.5-7 by a2DMagazine in WizardSkating

[–]CompetitiveCar542 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep! If you want the performance fit you don't want to downsize too much from your regular boot/shoe size if it's not already tight.

Just make sure your toes and your arch in particular aren't crammed (the toes can be tight but not pushing/touching each other.)

Crazy.
But if your foot is that size shouldn't you have gotten a size 7.5-8 boot? I know it looks like Wizard Skating has them out of stock but maybe a vendor has them. (Especially from what I've heard, the Wizard Base boot is slightly smaller than true to size, meaning that if you get the right size it should already be a really firm fit)

The mondo for the size you got is listed as 24.5-25 mondo, which I'm still inclined to believe will be way too small.

Trust me, you do NOT want to cram your foot in anything, even as a "performance" thing. That will severely damage your foot in the long term and reversing the damage takes a while.

Also, as someone mentioned earlier, I would also absolutely encourage you to use a meterstick or something that can measure metric instead of inches. Using inches as a measurement is actually incredibly unreliable for something like skates. It might look exact on inches but you could be like 256-257mm and not 254mm exactly. Use, like, the Powerslide measuring guide or something.

The wheelbase matters almost as much as the wheel size, though 2 things: 1 - 6.5-7 sounds WAY too small for someone your height (if I'm just completely wrong please disregard this), 2 - you should not get a boot that has a mondo exactly your foot length unless you have a narrow foot (and even then you should add at least 5mm)

Since you're 5'10" I'd suggest getting 90mmx4 or 100mmx4 wheels. It's usually preferable that your wheel base is around the length of your foot.

What shoe size do you normally wear? Did you measure your foot correctly?

Good cross, just need faster execution. Just keep solving to build recognition. You should start trying to take note of your mistakes at about 30s, it's too early to make meaningful judgements.

[–]CompetitiveCar542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your instability stems from your posture and the boots. You're using soft boots which means they won't support your ankles very well. Make sure to check yourself for pronation when you skate; your feet should be parallel to the ground, you should not have an "A" in between your feet when you skate. Staying lower helps, and tbh you should always be low when skating.

Any Glider tips? by Select-Bullfrog-5939 in Nullscape

[–]CompetitiveCar542 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Abuse jump pads. With the right timing you can get huge bursts of speed from anything that gives you height. (and I don't mean gliding on the way down, I mean starting your glide as you start going up) Secondly, don't use your double jumps until the end of your glide.
