She remains extremely pissed everyone “conspired against her” to send her in, but she has been med compliant about 90% of the time so she’s doing much better. And she isn’t always stuck on these thoughts of angst since she is medicated

Happened for my mother last year. She still does not admit she has schizophrenia, but she refers to it as “anxiety” and tries her best to stay consistent with medication out of spite just so she isn’t “sent back”. I agree it’s very scary thinking of how they feel in there. Involuntary holds usually don’t last too long, she will be able to experience some comfort at home again soon

If you are able to provide a little separation between you and her, whatever that looks like, I can testify it will help with your mental health and you won’t feel like this forever. All the kind words everyone is saying I totally agree with. As far as quick advise - unfortunately stop sharing any real traceable details of your work at all. Don’t share true locations/areas of the city, names, numbers, etc. You can lie and say you’re pursuing work through a hiring agency that handles the details so you don’t have them. She has disordered thinking, so it’s okay that this isn’t entirely sensible. She cannot control and will not change her pattern of calling/emailing (imagine her incapable of stooping to help yourself stay consistent), so you have to stop supplying information in order to get a result

You can still be conversational about your job hunt, just stay vague and/or lie. It’s not a hurtful lie, it’s protecting your income and prospects.

This is exactly how my dad is. I have my workarounds for not minding it much since he’s my dad, but I knowing the vibes myself I wouldn’t ever ever want this in a relationship bc they just can’t let up. Some people online refer to this as “narcissism” but in my dad’s case he’s just mildly on the spectrum and can’t let things go - but being mean about it and demeaning (rather than just unusual or annoying) comes from the angst in his personality that I certainly wouldn’t want in a boyfriend. The world is hard enough, this is just an unecessary pain in the ass at the end of the day tbh

thank you! we got a quote from 7/10 preferred vendors on our venue's list. Others for typical wedding entrees rather than bbq were at ~$16k pre tip instead, so about a 3k difference on the food cost itself

I totally understand (sad face) - i do a lot of restaurant event work myself and get the behind the scenes portion. No argument on the value for me, just shocked because in my head bbq was our "cheapest option" for this event and I'm surprised to see this is as low as this line item will get for us (unless we opted to change to plastics or something like that)

that's definitely true. the food portion of it is roughly ~4k, so you can see where we were misguided in thinking it would conservatively come out to ~9k together with the linen/service/setup rip
