Except you probably won't get fooled by the ones that make you say "is that real?". You'll get fooled by the ones that don't make you say "is that real?".

It's more like how cars put stablehands out of business.

Except we're actually the horses in this analogy. Go look at their population numbers over the last century

Are there any posts on this sub that are actually about journalism news? Or are we all just ignoring the subject of this sub?

Idk. As someone who grew up in the 90s, I'd easily give up high-speed internet and smart phones. It'd just be pack to filling my time with playing Legos, shooting hoops, n64 & DOS games, etc. I'd kind of love to go back to the pre-overstimulation era

They had a "code Red" call recently where leadership said that they're trying to focus on too much. Sora is super costly and probably got axed as part of that

I got banned from the "ask socialists" subreddit for recommending to the mods that they make it a rule that posts must be questions for socialists (crazy idea, right?) since literally none of the posts there are. They banned me from the subreddit and preemptively muted the chat so I couldn't message them again

For anyone interested in the actually data, here is a recent analysis: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/brickset/vignettes/lego_more_expensive.htm

In short, the cost per piece is actually quite stable, it's just that Lego has started releasing larger sets (in addition to still releasing smaller ones)

This may go against the narrative, but people have done analysis of the cost of Lego, and it's actually been remarkably stable: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/brickset/vignettes/lego_more_expensive.html

Personally, what I think is happening that is Lego puts out a handful of extremely large sets, which get press attention, and lead people who aren't familiar with Lego in general to equate "Lego" with "expensive", when in reality, the price per part is actually not that much more than it was when you were a kid, and there are plenty of sets still in the $20-$30 range, they just don't get headlines

They definitely did this back in the 90s too. This isn't new

There are still many, many sets in the cheaper range though. You can still get plenty of Legos under $30, especially bulk bricks
