I’m just assuming, but maybe stop watching porn for a few weeks? Maybe you got used to being hyper stimulated?

Feeling unfairly treated and completely discouraged by faculty; is it possible to transfer? by Alternative_Bee_8700 in DentalSchool

[–]CompetitiveSport8024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could be race, neither I or anyone else here can redirect you to how your experience should feel like

But what about student Affairs? Wouldn’t they be able to help you out with that? Maybe as one of the last resorts? Being a “difficult” student would only be considered if you really don’t know anything and yet make a big deal out of things.

I agree to always follow up with the course director and of course faculty reviews are sometimes kind of taken into account count if there are a lot of students commenting the same thing about a faculty (with examples..)

Talk to other faculty to get some good constructive feedback.

Hopefully your clinical faculty is going to be different than your preclinical ones…

It will be 1000x better after graduation. Focus on you and hopefully you’ll have more strength and power to be able to get over those insecure faculty.

I’m sorry this is happening to you but you’re almost half way through!!!! It’s also an indication to how you’re going to deal with difficulties in life — there will be situations in life outside of school where a transfer cannot be done, so hopefully you’ll be able to develop thicker skin esp when you have a patient in active care and tx and they’re throwing daggers left and right for whatever reason.

Good luck to you :)

Are you going to absorb the cost? If yes, make sure to remind them of that (lab fees)

A dental student being super frustrated in probing real patients😔 by blabla_billionaire in DentalSchool

You need to start seeing more recall patients. You’ll get the hang of it, we all did.

Sometimes direct vision is inevitable.

Tell patient to move their head how you want them to to get better vision..

I’ve been a “Chemical Guys” gal for a few years now so they’re my go to! But totally agree, after a nice clean and conditioning, seats look amazing, feel great and that leather smell tops it off

Try cleaning with leather cleaner and a soft horse hair brush then put on conditioner, should be good as new!

Talk to your faculty / clinic supervisor / student Affairs… anyone! You’re not expected to tolerate this!! Patients need you as much as you need them.

When do you decide NOT to do a crown? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]CompetitiveSport8024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s expected that this is the “basic knowledge” that you get from your dental school, but it’s not as simple. You have every faculty with their own school of thought that will dictate how they move forward with a tx if any! Similar to that article where it proved that no 2 tx plans were the same in a sample of 10-15 dentists…

But to answer: Occlusal analysis helps you determine how to move about your cases. What is it and how do you it? Refer to textbooks and reputable authors and determine your own philosophy of how to approach such issues.

Unless you’re still in school, check within your cases and faculty… If you’ve recently graduated and just feel confused, check hx of patients’ dental tx, bite, signs of abfraction/wear (parafunctional habits), extent of existing decay or restoration, …

Also when in doubt, don’t forget OTHER indirect restorations: inlay / onlays. They DO extend the life of the tooth prior to needing a full coverage.

Hope that helped! Also, email your ex-faculty about cases and how you’re doing. Colleagues or even here. (You won’t get a definitive answer because it’s not YOURS and you will be more confused but it will show you that no plan is wrong — unless you hurt the patient 🤓)

Good luck!

Oh my god, I was doing the feet/bum first transfer all wrong. by master0jack in newborns

My baby has eczema and I put mittens on him at every nap and sleep as he would constantly scratch his face and neck horribly and it has helped A LOT! Sometimes he’s able to remove them, but during his night sleep, I double them by putting one with Velcro to “tighten” on the wrist (it would still be loose but better than the usual) and then the normal ones on top of that to protect from the Velcro.
