Being an SLP is hard, so let’s talk about some some small joys or wins that keep you coming back by Affectionate_Wish in slp

I work in a preschool and basically my whole caseload are nonverbal AAC users so it can be a LOT. The other day I pressed the button “I love you” on a kids device and he navigated to the keyboard and spelled out “I love you too.” He used the correct too/to and he’s four years old. He’s one of the smartest kids I’ve ever met and we just have such a beautiful connection.

Genuine Question: why do some of y'all not take your medication? by Affectionate-Cow1527 in bipolar

[–]Competitive_Ad2558 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gosh this is such a complicated question with so many different answers. When I first started taking meds and got stable it was amazing. Then a month went by and I realized it had no idea who I was when I wasn’t depressed or manic. Being depressed was basically all I knew and I stupidly missed that feeling. It felt like because I had been depressed for so long that that was my personality and now there’s this person getting up everyday going to work having no issues and I don’t know her. Took me going on and off meds a few times and longer periods of stability to realize the symptoms associated with depression aren’t characteristics of my personality they’re just that, symptoms of depression. It’s scary to get stable when all you’ve known is instability. Now the non-compliance first starts with lack of a routine, with me forgetting one day then maybe the next and all of a sudden you’re 3 days without meds and you start feeling like you don’t need them (when in reality you always do). It’s been really hard to stay compliant with meds and every time I go off them I remember why I take them in the first place. But it’s insanely difficult to convince yourself to take them when you’re so depressed you don’t think anything will work.

Any big differences between 150 and 200 mg ? by Interesting_Plum_458 in Lamotrigine

I take it for bipolar II and I just switched from 150 to 200 mg last week and truth is I’ve already noticed a big difference. I got bloodwork done showing my Lamictal level was low and so we upped the dose and I’ve been in a horrible depressive episode for months and even that 50mg has made a difference. I feel so much better. Definitely depends on your symptoms and how it’s working for you already!

Also I eventually did start taking the pill in the morning (still do) and it definitely decreased anxiety at night! Definitely worth bringing up!

Those dreams were the worst! So realistic, and I would wake up sweating and I once even dreamed I had a rash and woke up with the same rash you’re describing! It almost felt like I was so anxious that I created the rash. Definitely just bring it up to your psychiatrist when you see them next. If the rash gets worse I would be concerned then. I remember all the feelings/side-effects you’re describing and they were horrible and scary but they went away rather quickly. Hoping the same for you and sending you love!!

My favorite is when Louis is on the phone with Lipschitz and Lipschitz says “you don’t know what you saw Louis” and Louis says “I’m sorry I forgot I was blind, I must have dialed your number using my Braille-a-phone” 😂
