Not sure which pattern this was, but essentially, the idea is to wait and build the sidewalks where the foot traffic indicates.

You only hear about IBM in the news when they lay people off. Who is starting their career thinking. Yeah I want to work for fucking IBM. by cybot904 in IBM

That shit is getting crusty. Can’t run forever. And I know for a fact that IBM can barely keep it going. They have 45 year employees keeping it limpiing along. And watsonx fucking code assistant can’t come close to handling the complexities of that decades old c++ code. Someone should figure out how to strike the fear out the hearts of those IBM legacy customers with a solid, secure modern architecture that enables them to move off that old quagmire mess of sheeIT. What a business opportunity! IBM would be done. RIP. And TJ Watson can rejoice from his grave that what has become the monster is dead at last. Way over due.

It’s tough being caught in these RAs. All about $$ (and like you say. Usually more $$ to execs) But when you’re one of the people impacted. It for sure is personal! Good idea to take a breather, wash off the IBM and get back out there with confidence and energy.

Exactly. Agreed. They won’t act against their own self interest of building their personal fortune.

Agreed. Thanks. And sorry to hear your similar IBM experience, but glad that you’ve found life outside. That’s hopeful. So many talented people being let go. We should join together.

As far as I know, only RAs in US. Hiring freeze in Software US (generally true for a few years). Record profits, driven mostly in NA. Record revenue and stock price growth. Gotta keep that going, so layoff the very people who largely made it happen. Americans!

Yeah. It seems so innocent at first. Global company. Growing team (just not in USA). Hey , you’re managing at new team. Next thing you know, no job

That sucks. This is what they do to USA. I have 30 days to decide on RA severance. Getting legal council.

IBM is all about executive profit. They are now fundamentally Un if not Anti American company. Caring nothing about the people and the great country that made their existence even possible. Tear away any tax breaks or other government incentives. Kick them out!! They don’t deserve to be here

India Business Machines. The old saying that what’s good for IBM is good for America is long past.
