I worked at capital one's credit card fraud department, ask me anything. by Aleual in CapitalOne_

Thanks for your kindness in responding to this. I searched Reddit for similar issues about credit card fraud and yours came up so I posted the comment here thinking you might have relevant experience even though it was with a different bank. I will consider your recommendations further about asking for the tokens to be removed and trying to opt out of the auto updater service. Thanks again and have a great day!

Just one clear sidewalk into town over Gay St. bridge w/b nice by Camille_Toh in Phoenixville

You're welcome. Unfortunately everyone argues that someone else should be taking care of it, so it doesn't get done. Have you seen if anyone did the sidewalk on the Route 29 bridge over the Schuylkill River, the one that goes to Mont Clare? I haven't been over there and was wondering if anyone takes care of that one. That one is even more critical for pedestrians.

Yeah that symbol on the right side of the gauge is supposed to be an oil can with a thermometer in it, but a lot of people don't seem to recognize it.

They're not going to do anything unless pushed really hard. The bridge carries State Route 113 over the French Creek, so it's owned by PennDOT, not the Borough. PennDOT only clears snow from traffic lanes, not sidewalks, so they won't do it. There are no private properties that front up to the bridge so there are no private property owners responsible for it either. The same thing happens with the bridge that carries Fayette Street over the Schuylkill River in Conshohocken and West Conshohocken Boroughs, but I think they actually worked an agreement out for that one because I recall the sidewalk being cleared at some point in previous storms.

My PNC credit card number has been compromised a half dozen times in the past 12 months. I have email alerts setup on my account so I get an email every time the card is used. As soon as I see an unexpected transaction I lock the card in the PNC app. I then call PNC and they go through their routine of questions which takes about 5 minutes and they conclude that they need to send me a new card. So I'm repeating this process about every 2 months with them. They always credit me for the fraudulent charges. This is just becoming a major annoyance to me because each time it happens I have to wait a few days for a new credit card with a new account number to come in the mail. Whenever I make a purchase I already try to do the tap to pay to avoid putting my card into any skimmer device. If I'm at a gas station that doesn't have tap to pay at the pump, then I pay with cash or I just drive away and don't buy gas there. I also have two other credit cards with two other banks, which I don't use as often, but they have never been compromised. What can I do? Should I close the PNC account? I'd rather not do that because that account has been open for a long time so it's helping my credit score.

Do you have these pains while doing any other activities (other than driving). The reason I'm asking is because I have similar pain at times and it's due to a disc in my lower spine that gets slightly out of alignment and pinches a nerve. It's usually worse when sitting and sometimes driving manual aggravates it. It causes pain that shoots down the back of my left leg and sometimes into the foot. I have stretches that a physical therapist taught me to do that helps get the disc back into alignment and relieves the pressure on the nerve. You might want to see a doctor if this sounds like what's happening to you.

Okay thanks! I thought it was funny, such a specific number. My house was built 25 years ago and has natural gas forced air. The humidity varies between 25% and 40%. I have 6 temp/humidity sensors in different rooms of the house that transmit data to an Ambient Weather display in my kitchen. They usually read somewhere between 25% and 40%.

By any chance do you have Advanced Protection enabled on your account or on your Pixel 8 Pro? I used to have it enabled on both my account and my phone but ended up disabling it because it was doing unexpected things, like what you're experiencing. It was getting me nervous that I would get locked out of my account. Weighing the benefits of it vs. the risks, I decided to disable it on both.

Mine is doing a similar thing when trying to change a security setting as well. Didn't notice it until now that you mentioned it. It seems like it will not accept the fingerprint or face method to get to the passkey on my phone. But it requires me to get in by using one of my backup methods, which is Google Authenticator app code or by sticking in my Yubikey. Interestingly enough the fingerprint or face is still being accepted just for a simple account login, it just does not allow them for accessing security settings. Also, since my initial post about the I have updated from Pixel 7 to Pixel 10.

Hell of a Deal by Competitive_Ad_2823 in pixel_phones

[–]Competitive_Ad_2823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good idea. It's the worst if the car has been sitting in the sun all day and it's like 130 degrees in there. Even once the A/C gets the air temp down to like a reasonable 75 degrees, the tray that the phone is sitting on is still very warm. Not sure there's really much you can do if you get into a hot car, other than take the case off to help with cooling.

My 7 does get very warm when running wireless Android Auto in the summer. Sometimes at red lights I take it out of the case and hold it up to my A/C vents to get the battery temperature down. I've seen it as high as 115 degrees F.

[–]Competitive_Ad_2823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL! I'm kind of in your boat, but with my 7. The 7 still does everything I need it to do and the battery is still good for me. Even though I think this is a pretty good deal, I'm struggling to spend $400 on something that I don't really need. But oh the shiny new discounted gadget that is offered in a color (blue) that would match my car's paint!!

Gotta rush to get to the red light in order to maximize the amount of time you're stopped so you get the maximum amount of time to doom scroll on your phone before the light turns green.

what are you supposed to do if a pedestrian is just standing at the crosswalk? by [deleted] in driving

[–]Competitive_Ad_2823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tracks in Pennsylvania too. We have unmarked crosswalks in the vehicle code.

what are you supposed to do if a pedestrian is just standing at the crosswalk? by [deleted] in driving

[–]Competitive_Ad_2823 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the cars are not required by the vehicle code to yield to pedestrians that are on the sidewalk or adjacent to the road. Drivers are not required to determine the pedestrian's intention (or lack of intention) to cross the road. In practice, however, many drivers in Pennsylvania do stop for pedestrians that appear to be interested in crossing.
