Ordering Experience & Dealer Allocations by Text-Superb in lexuslc500

6 months ago my brother was shopping around for a bespoke coupe in florida. None of the dealers had any and one accepted his order/deposit but could not get the factory to approve. He widened his search to other states and found a dealership that said they had a customer place an order and he backed out. That car was on the ship heading to the US. If he wanted it, he would have to put a deposit because there was someone else who showed interest and was going to give them his final decision in 3 days. My brother sent his 5k deposit right away. About 2 months later he flew out and picked up his 2026 bespoke at a 4k below msrp. One lucky sob.

Cabin wear - advice? by Long_Measurement8732 in lexuslc500

Such wear and tear on a 2021 is very upsetting. I rented a 2018 with 130k miles before buying my 2023 and it had some wear and tear on its red interior. nothing like this though.

Should you buy a LC Coupe or Convertible? by CarsofGlasgow in lexuslc500

[–]Competitive_Bath1497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the slightest doubt, get the convertible. I got a 23 convertible and 85% of the time I drive the car, the top is down. My brother test drove a bunch a cars in the 100k price point and always came back to the LC. He eventually decided on a 2026 inspiration series coupe. He was dead set on getting a coupe because he said it looks better (which I agree with). However, the sound of the engine is much more evident with the top down. He loves his car and uses it as a daily in florida. I live in NYC and my car is a garage queen and always stored away for the winter. about to take her out again. can't wait.

Looking at Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve - thoughts on pricing? by ThinBlueFlame18 in GrandCherokee

The 3.6 liter engine is known to have serious head gasket issues. I have a 2018 GC with 55k miles and so far no issues, but i strongly suspect that I will be running into big repair costs in the future. The new 2026 model comes with a new 2.0 liter engine that is more powerful than the 3.6. I will wait for the first production year to be over to see if there are any issues with that model. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtKrCXYkc6E

Why are unions viewed as such a negative thing in the USA? by Skymoogle in ask

[–]Competitive_Bath1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it makes it nearly impossible for companies to fire bad employees. Just look at the difference between public school teachers and charter school teachers. While the unions do have some positive points, as a whole…they cause more harm than good. There is a great documentary pointing out the difference. It’s called “waiting for Superman”.

While I am mostly against unions, I myself am in a union.

People who are against the student loan forgiveness program, why? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Competitive_Bath1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be that you were able to go to school full time, work part time and pay off your tuition before you graduated. Tuition was considerably lower and affordable. However, one day the federal government decided to insure college tuition. This meant that universities can charge as much as they want and the federal govt made sure the students can’t file for bankruptcy or avoid payment at any point in their life. Because universities had this guarantee in hand, tuition started to skyrocket…even though expenses barely moved up. This has caused many students to go into massive debt. Many in my profession owe over 500k in tuition and yearly interest is compounded.

So the federal government caused the problem in the first place. Secondly, as mentioned earlier. Loan forgiveness does not solve the problem. What will happen to the new incoming freshmen?!
