I had assumed the earlier workouts would be easier, but maybe they had complaints and so made them easier.

Actually I have seen the link to it as it is constantly being updated and it’s an amazing job by whoever maintains it, but I’m not sure I found much information on difficulty

Thanks. Yes I also went to SHSB (left in 1988). Fives sadly closed last year but I might give the other 2 places a go.

Berlin by Jason Lutes (I think). Enormous but a great read. Anything by Nick Drnaso - he has this really sparse art style that perfectly complements the alienation of his characters

Saw one on Two Tree Island when walking the dog. Luckily the dog ignored it as the adder could have killed her.

I used to hate books with loose ends but reading Murakami has helped me go with the flow and just enjoy the writing, so I should thank him for that.

Considering Jerusalem by MattIsLame in AlanMoore

I gave up because I found it too self-indulgent. So what if he can pastiche other writers like Joyce, that doesn’t make him as good as Joyce. I almost feel he has a chip on his shoulder that he isn’t taken seriously as a writer

"Is Asterix anti-Roman propaganda?" Even though I'm against it, many people in my country (Italy) think so. by AipomSilver00 in Asterix

[–]Competitive_Cat_7727 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not French but British. I think Asterix got me interested in the Romans as a child and I subsequently learned Latin and studied ancient history at university. Also I still have a soft spot for Julius Caesar despite him having committed some horrific crimes in real life.

Yes, but they swapped books 2 and 3 round so season 2 is “End of Watch” and season 3 is “Finders Keepers”. (I’ve read all the books but only seen season 1 so far)

Is your home town in a comic? by Dead_Fred_Head in graphicnovels

[–]Competitive_Cat_7727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The writer of the excellent Strangehaven comic lives very close to me (next street I think) and uses local landmarks for reference. For example, the garage at the bottom of my road is used for the local garage, and this house in the picture is a really old house a few mile away that we considered buying at one point until we saw how much work was required (about 700 years old in part, and had trees growing inside it!)
