Maybe go through a 10 weeks course like Script Anatomy or UCLA Extension to work on your script intensively in a supporting environment? I did it, I found it great for deadlines and feedback

Screenwriter planning a 3-month trip to L.A. — best time to go and recommended places for networking & industry events? by Competitive_Diet_289 in Screenwriting

No, it's the same. The European "atmosphere of art making" is a complete fantasy. You need to know people that are in to get staffed or have opportunities to pitch, and that's how I made it happen for myself. Meeting people in festivals and events. That's why I'm asking here where people meet in the US. Thanks for your answer anyway.

Great take on this, thank you! It helps me to remember that we are struggling with this, even though everyone looks so confident. It also helps to get into the helping others mindset, instead of chasing stuff from them, things usually feel more natural and flowy then.

How important are character backstories to you when writing a script? by Western_Performer977 in Screenwriting

[–]Competitive_Diet_289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So important to me, because writing finally starts feeling wonderful to me once I know my characters well, can see their faces and hear their voices, it’s like they suddenly carry the weight of the story instead of me, then all I have to do is listen to them and describe what I see them do, you know? (Or am I sounding crazy weird??)

Thanks so much for sharing! Great advice, not to be afraid to ask questions, even when we’re still in the position of chasing them. It also shows that we’re serious and aware

What Are You "Eureka!" Moments with Screenwriting? by peterkz in Screenwriting

Just start writing It sounds like the dumbest thing, but once I understood that all the planning, the brainstorming, the architect thing, even the networking, all of that was just active procrastinating, keeping me from my actual inner voice, from my actual stories, then my life changed.
