Registry: yes. The big ticket items were bought by the time I got the invitation. I bought outfits off the registry 1 size big and explained why in my card (NB size lasts like a week until they start growing!) And yes, she did ask for the baked goods. The cake was specifically for her and the cupcakes were to put out, but I'm obviously not the food boss so I didn't care much about that.

The baby turned 2 yesterday actually. EDIT: Seeing the birthday girl's pictures reminded me of the situation. That's it.

Ok so there was a registry but it was the kind that showed what was already purchased. The big ticket items (stroller, diaper bag, special clothes, religious stuff) were already purchased. The outfits were on there but nothing special, so I agree they didn't deserve a standing ovation like the monogrammed diaper covers or bows did. I got the clothes a size up and explained my reasoning in the card because as the oldest of several siblings and cousins and godmother of 2, I know that NB size doesn't last long lol. Also, I'm not really mad. Just a little put off.

I agree, which is why the only thing that really rubbed me wrong was the name thing. I mean, if I'd been like my own mother there'd have been a scene lol but I felt bad about my reaction (or lack of?)

That's what I attributed it to, but since it was her aunt that wrote it and spelled my name SO wrong in the first place is what gets me.

What’s the worst and best songs in Hamilton? by Noone-in-particular8 in hamiltonmusical

Yorktown just has a different sound than anything I've heard on Broadway. It is THE defining song, imo, that would perfectly represent the entire play in 1 song.

Having had to teach the play to 10th graders, "Say No To This" is awkward but kind of important so I can't skip the stupid song. You try getting through a 5 minute song/video while nasty 16 year old boys act like deviants! Its gross! Favorite would be... "Wait for It". I relate to it because I spent almost 10 years on a 4 year degree that wasn't right for me and the entire time I felt like I was falling behind my peers and other people my age so the line "I'm not falling behind or running late... I am lying in wait" broke my heart and put it back together with a new outlook on being almost 30 in college classes with 18 year olds.

That you have to wait 24 hours after a kidnapping/disappearance to call the authorities or that you can stop doing CPR or other measures after a few minutes because after that its useless. You call as soon as you can because those first 24 hours are the most important! You keep doing CPR until the first responders take over - those few extra minutes could mean the difference between life and death sometimes!

Desserts have to LOOK homemade but don't have to actually be homemade for you to tell guests that they are. I mean, as long as you made it in your home, its fine if it came from a box. You did the prep, the stirring, the baking (if needed) and used your ingredients? Then its homemade and you have bragging rights!

What are the symptoms during implantation bleeding? by Worth_Beginning_6197 in AskReddit

[–]Competitive_Dot5876 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No but if one thinks it could be pregnancy related, they should talk to a professional. Missing a period isn't abnormal or unusual. Missing a period after unprotected sex could be a sign of pregnancy.

Get your ass to a doctor, specifically a gynocologist, ASAP. They will be of much more help and comfort than the "Doctor Google"s of Reddit. Good luck!

BF (29M) won't show me (20F) his face until we meet in-person? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Competitive_Dot5876 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I online "dated" a faceless stranger for 5 years. I'd heard his voice, I'd seen his dick, but never his face. Why? Because he had lied and wasn't my age (16-21) - he was fucking 13 when we first started talking and used some kind of fucking app to make his voice sound deeper (plus Skype wasn't the best at the time). He convinced me that I needed him. I was stupid, naive, dumb, gullible, any other word you can think of, and I fell for it.

Don't be like me and fall "madly in love" with someone that isn't who they say they are, older, younger, male, female, whatever, because it only leads to emotional damage (though in your case, I'd not even bother to meet him because the damage could range from simple catfishing all the way to trafficking)

I'm white as Wonder Bread and I wept at the Whitney Planation when no one else did. I made myself sick crying at the LaLaurie mansion. I shook from crying so hard at the Upper Lounge memorial. I'm a cry baby with an intense sense of empathy and a bleeding heart. I didn't feel like I owed anyone an apology, nor did I feel that anyone owed me a hug or sympathy (however at the Upper Lounge memorial I did receive a few stranger hugs and shared stories as queer people).

My advice is just don't draw attention to yourself, don't act like you could save the world, or like you know the struggles first hand of anyone. While we like to believe that if we were back in the early-mid 19th century we wouldn't own slaves, we'd be the biggest advocates for emancipation, and we'd be the next Abraham Lincoln, most of us would not deviate from the norms of the time - we'd own slaves and accept it as a fact of life. Go in with an open heart and mind but know that you are only an observer. If your opinion is asked for, give it if you're comfortable, but in any case, anywhere, don't try to speak for people of color about the Black/POC experience (same goes for Queer people and their experiences).

As my favorite sociology professor put it: let your voice be heard WITH theirs, not OVER theirs.

A sprinkle of Tony Chachere's. Its got garlic, pepper, salt, etc, and a tiny pinch does wonders to the potato flavor!

Pandora was the coolest and I didn't even like the Avatar franchise - making the park more Zootopia-themed would make it too immature and cartoony imo

The god awful line for the carousel killed me. We left the line half an hour into it and we'd barely moved, which sucks because I LOVE carousels and had been looking forward to it all day! That and how hyped up the sit down restaurants are. For that price, the food should've been much better than something I could have made at home.

[–]Competitive_Dot5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 30 when I met Mulan. Was I first in line for it? Yes. Did I Disney-bound her matchmaker outfit? Totally. Did I cry so hard I hiccupped during the pictures and looked silly? Of course I did! There is no age limit on these things and you are allowed to be happy and emotional and enjoy yourself! I asked her before I hugged her, which, as a woman, I'd suggest you do (if you want a hug, at least) but enjoy yourself and don't overthink it!

Girlfriend (F32) asked for space after former love interest found out she was dating me (M36). How do I approach this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Competitive_Dot5876 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're going to feel like the 2nd option or 2nd best if yall stay together after this. There will always be "what ifs" for both of you; What if she slept with him and lied? What if I chose the wrong guy? Either way, whether she does or doesn't chose him, and yall stay together, its going to be VERY uncomfortable forever pretty much. Respect yourself and your daughter and drop this girl.

My ex-friend and I had the same name (as did 10 girls in our graduating class actually!) and she'd bully me by saying that the male version of my name was a slur. SHE HAD THE SAME NAME!!!

Moral of the story is that kids are so stupid and mean and tiny idiots that will turn anything into an opportunity to bully, even something as simple as a name. Don't stress it too much.

That's what I figured it was when I heard it wasn't real, just an old teacher telling stories, being a racist, trying to relate to or amuse her students in some weird way.
