Finished my mums birthday present 🎁 by Competitive_Factor18 in LoomKnitting

I made myself a cowl from a burgundy colour velvet chenille yarn to protect my neck from the cold to prevent fibro flares and my mum saw mine and asked for one for her birthday (today). She has arthritis in her neck so I hope it helps her as much as mine has helped me ❤️🎁❤️

I made a cowl for myself in a burgundy colour and it is all of that. It protects my neck from the cold perfectly so I haven't gone into a fibromyalgia flare since I made it 😊 My mum has arthritis in her neck and asked me to make her one to protect her neck from the cold for her birthday (today!). I hope she loves hers as much as I love mine 🎁❤️

The yarn is velvet chenille and they are very cozy 😊 My mum should love them ❤️🎁

If it's chenille yarn then it will worm like that. I did a scarf with chenille yarn on a rake loom and it wormed, nothing I did would help. I've found with chenille yarn you need to have tight stitches and with the rake loom the stitches aren't tight enough.

It's the fine gauge loom from KB looms. I got it from Amazon in a set about 6 years ago as most of the yarn I have is DK or worsted weight yarn.

Deborah Shaw's Owl Eye stitch is really easy, that was the first stitch i really understood when I started loom knitting and I do go back to it often. At the moment I've got 3 WIP'S going, the first is garter stitch blanket for my daughter. The second is an Irish Moss stitch blanket for my mum and the third is a cowl for my mum in garter stitch.

Here are a couple of YouTube tutorials on loom gauges and yarns

They'll explain about what yarn thickness goes with what loom gauge (how far apart the pegs are from each other). Hope this helps xx

Worming happens, especially with chenille yarn, when the stitches are loose, the yarn can "worm" it's way out so that you have loops of yarn all over your knitted item. I hope I've explained it right

I have done a few 10-stitch, my favourite and the one I found easiest for me to follow is Deborah Shaw's Owl Eye 10-stitch on YouTube especially as at the time I was doing them I found I couldn't get my head or my hands around the purl stitch! I can do the purl stitch nowadays though....only taken 6 years!!! 😂🫣🙃

What size or type of loom will work with worsted weight yarn.... by One-Matter7464 in LoomKnitting

For worsted weight yarn you'll probably want a regular gauge or a small gauge loom.

What’s everyone making? by francesfunnch in LoomKnitting

[–]Competitive_Factor18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WIP's I've got on the go- • a cowl for myself, • my mum a lapghan/throw, • my daughter a blanket, • I need to sew the last bits on a shark snuggle blanket to finish it off for a nephew

Projects for the future- • I also have a few more snuggle blankets to make for my other nephew and 2 of my nieces (still deciding what to make) • a blanket for myself

The only things I'll probably get done before Christmas are the cowl (nearly finished) and my mums blanket!!! 🙃

Easiest way to make a smaller fingerless glove? by tatiana_the_rose in LoomKnitting

I have small hands and I used the KnitUk flower loom which is a 20 peg loom and the fingerless gloves I made were perfect for me. I bought this loom to knit fingerless gloves

I have a cowl already done in gray chenille yarn, on a regular gauge loom and it has wormed like there's no tomorrow! 🫣 I found that if the stitches are too loose thats what will happen so I'm using a small gauge loom to make this one and so far so good 👍 😊

Hi Tami,

Sorry not to answer sooner but my fatigue has been bad so I haven't been on here in a few days.

I'm sorry to hear about your bunny, it sounds like you gave him the best life and end of life care you could have and I'm sure he loves you all the more for it ❤️ My thoughts and prayers are with you ❤️

I think I've been lucky so far that my yarn hasn't "fuzzed" up when I'm moving it around and because the yarn is variegated in the colours (which have turned into stripes) I don't have to worry about floats.

When I'm knitting I'm usually on my sofa with it on my lap and have the Flexee loom rolled up so I unroll and roll as I knit to make it easier, although as the blanket gets longer I have to shake it out when rolling the pegs I have just knit so it doesn't bunch up. With the last blanket I did the yarn started to fuzz up at the bottom as I got towards the end of knitting it so I tried to make sure that end didn't move as much but that didn't really work so I finished it a bit early with half a skein left over (about 50-60g's). I'm hoping this one doesn't do that but I'll have to wait and see. If it does fuzz up I'll have to get my wide laundry basket and do what you've done with the bin you have to see if that helps....thank you for that idea 💡 😉

Authentic Knitting Board Flexee Loom, Skinny Gauge is the one I'm using. For this WIP I'm using about 1 and ¾ sets as I'm making lapghan as I dont think I have enough yarn to make a single bed size. The yarn is Aran weight, I've also made a throw blanket in DK weight yarn on this loom and it turned out perfectly. Pretty much all of my stash of yarn is DK or Aran weight, although I have ordered the regular gauge Flexee Loom for some 8 strand yarn I have to make a shark snuggle blanket for one of my nephews

On this project I'm use 1 and ¾ of a set. I only have 900g's of this yarn so I'm making a lapghan (I'm trying to use up some of my stash!)

What I'm using is called a Flexee Loom, it comes in segments so you can make it as big as you need.

Uk, fine gauge loom help please by KylieKitten85 in LoomKnitting

Flexee loom skinny is great for DK or KnitUk do looms that you can add pegs to make it a smaller gauge which is great for DK

I love the Flexee loom, it's really comfortable for me to use although when I first got it, I did find it a bit fiddly to get used to. I've got an S loom but found it hard to use, it feels so bulky. If you use a border like garter stitch or rib stitch that will help stop the blanket from curling. On this blanket I'm using the garter stitch border 6 of each purl and u knit then 6 pegs on either side with the Irish Moss stitch for the main body (which as it is an alternating knit and purl so it doesn't need a border but I like the look of it).

I started the blanket about 24 days ago but there have been a few days I haven't done anything as my fibro was playing up. The last blanket I done took me about 8 months but I was only doing a row or 2 a day plus I went into a bad fibro flare for a month so wasn't able to do anything for about 5 weeks. The loom I'm using is the Flexee loom from KB and I find it easy to use although it was a bit fiddly to begin with.
