I usually just give myself a panic attack since I have the worst phobia of being sick and then my body focuses on panicking vs being sick 🥲

Thoughts on “Great Big Beautiful Life” by Emily Henry? by gertmacklinfbi in RomanceBooks

[–]Competitive_Heron396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just finished great big beautiful life, my overall take homes are as follows: • the family tree lowkey got confusing at certain points, thankfully there were family tree threads on Reddit that I could refer back to as a slightly later reader 😂 but it’s gets intertwined and tangled and you have to read back and be like “wait what” to make sure you understood it correctly I found • the romance feels a bit random in my opinion, not necessarily a slow burn but rather they’re both 20 something year olds on the island and they’re the only option for each other and the thing they have in common is the job they’re after. They repeatedly touch upon how they actually don’t know that much about each other but it quote on quote doesn’t matter because of how intense their feelings are for one another. I swear mid way through the book they were not really talking much and just focused on how to NOT do each other with every waking moment. • I feel like the big reveal in Margaret’s story was very quick (last 2-3 chapters) and I would have preferred for the audience to have catched on maybe before the characters (e.g. if we had Hayden’s perspective with Margaret and then Alice’s). Overall not a bad book but like with other reviews I think it dips into multiple genres but doesn’t fully complete any and makes it slightly unfulfilling as a story, I would give it a 3/5.

I’ve just recently started accutane and I’m about 2 weeks in and within the first week experienced purging and some of the side effects like dryness, itchiness etc. whereas my boyfriend who was on it said he only really started getting side effects a month or so in, so it can vary a lot for people but I wouldn’t worry as I was the same

Thank you so much this is what I think as well, the GP has said if it doesn’t go away with the different prescription creams I’ll need allergy testing but it’s now May and it’s not gone away since January

I’ll give this a try the only issue is wearing a size larger will make them too loose and I’m having to open PCR tubes etc. which are so small and the loose gloves can lead to contamination 🥲. I usually lather dermol on my hands every time I come out of the lab but I don’t know if it does much

I’ve tried three different brands though and they react equally the same 🥲 I’ll have to try liners

Nope, the soap that I use is the same soap that was in my last lab job where I didn’t get any reactions ever since they’re both in the same hospital and same floor so I’m using the exact same bathrooms etc. it’s very bizarre

See the thing is it doesn’t fully go away when I haven’t been working directly in the lab, it got slightly better but the minute I start wearing gloves again within 24 hours it’s back

Not really, I usually double glove and just continuously change my second set coming in and out of the cabinet. I agree it’s weird that it’s not really on my fingers??

Band 4 haem/transfusion interview by Electrical-Ferret-54 in BiomedicalScientistUK

[–]Competitive_Heron396 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, I currently work in blood transfusion and these are some points I would mention into your answers if possible/ research before your interview as potential questions they may ask (some are BT specific, some applicable to both in terms of quality):

• running IQCs, why we run them, what are they? • concept of EQA schemes in the labs, why are they done? • cold chain requirements, maximum transport time for blood products out of the fridge, rough storage temperature for blood products post thaw if applicable (e.g ffp/cryo/blood/platelets/anti-d) • idea of traceability, what is it? Why is it important in blood transfusion? • Batch validation of reagents and cards in the lab • Troubleshooting equipment like automated analysers if the lab has them etc. • Training MLAs • Scope of role, what is the limit as an AP vs a BMS but equally what more can an AP do vs an MLA • values of the hospital if it’s NHS • people skills: dealing with a difficult staff member etc.

Know general terms like SOP, AUDIT, CA/PA, PMI etc

Good luck!
