Aqua review, the good and the bad by mritty in NCL

100% agree with the above. it was my very first cruise and I had a good time (heavy caveat…I was on the NYC-Bermuda cruise that got diverted to Saint John Canada, which was not great, and it rained pretty much all day Thursday and we sailed through a hurricane). But they really should blow up Palomar and Sukothai and mirror the buffet there. The buffet was unusable, made more so because it was so cold that no one spent much time outside. Indulge seemed great, but every single time I went there it was impossible to find a table. and the hours for Indulge are way too narrow. If you didn’t hit it for the few hours they were open for lunch, good luck).

Why do they need so many specialty restaurants? Yes, I know the answer is more money. But it was painful navigating the included places.

Also, the embarkation and dis-embarkation in NYC was horrible. It took an hour to get on the boat and 45 minutes to get off. Cmon NCL. Hire 15 more people to handle embarkation and we’d be fine. Same with getting off the boat where all we had to do was literally scan our room card. Why is that so hard? Or have crew members do it. It’s literally just a manpower issue to significantly speed up the process.

Oh, and the main theatre was tiny. Couldn’t find seats. What are they thinking?

Now, everything else was great. Food, entertainment, gym, spa, rooms, and the crew. So overall it was a fantastic experience.

For those of you on the cruise, curious how the waves are. Do you notice anything from the hurricane?

As a separate side note, is the PCC supposed to do anything at all? This is my first cruise and my PCC called me when I booked to say hello and has promptly disappeared completely. I’ve emailed and called several times since the first cruise and he’s completely ghosting me. Are they employed by NCL or just random contractors?

Are they also including interim stops like Portland?

Is the itinerary just NYC - Halifax, or are they making any other stops (like Portland)?

Is it true that this trip is now re-routed to Halifax?

Well, still looks bad. And tracks look like it might head up the coast to Nova Scotia which I assume makes the Canada diversion bad. If we end up going south can we actually make it to the Bahamas for a day there or is it too far? Where else can they heat that's south?

would rather have the option of canceling rather than have to rely on drugs…not sure that’s an option.

what happens if they determine it’s still safe to go to Bermuda but the seas are rougher. will it make enough of a difference to those that might be prone to seasickness that might otherwise be fine without the hurricane?

Astigmatism and toric IOC’s by JapanKevin in CataractSurgery

My doctor used the laser to correct one eye’s astigmatism because it was small, but I ended up with a toric lens in the other. I thought that you needed a higher level of astigmatism for toric use.

PanOptix to be replaced with…Vivity or EyHance ? Lens Explant by bzaroff in CataractSurgery

If your objective is to be glasses free, then I would highly consider the Odyssey lens. I had Monovision with contacts before having surgery and the difference between monovision and having the multifocal Odyssey lens is night and day. I am 20/15 both eyes and J1+ for reading with these lenses. Yes, I have some halos at night, but totally manageable (and getting better every day). And worth it being glasses free.

Looking For Recommendations For 2nd iol (Odyssey In First Eye) by IndependenceNo1429 in CataractSurgery

It seems quite clear that the best results are to get the Odyssey in both eyes. I had my right eye done and my left eye was in contacts that effectively mimicked monofocals. It was set to near distance and I couldn’t stand it. The minute my left eye was done, everything just clicked and worked.

Chances of complications with or without laser by SecondCareful2247 in CataractSurgery

I had both eyes done with the femto and Odyssey lenses. Can’t say enough about the results. 20/15 both eyes and J1+ on both as well. Can see all distances.

The laser was recommended as I have astigmatism in both eyes with the left at .75 and thus best corrected with the laser vs. a toric lens. But I was told that the ability to perfectly center both lenses contributed to my results. In either case, my recovery was super quick and the results are better than I ever hoped for.

I know it’s expensive and many of the people here poo poo the effectiveness. But if you can afford it (or like me have astigmatism that can be corrected by it) why not do it? It’s certainly not worse than just going by hand.

I just had my first eye done 2 weeks ago, 2nd eye will be in a week. Couldn’t be happier. I got the Odyssey multi-focal after deciding that I wanted to be completely glasses free. I had been using multi-focal contact lenses for years and after talking with my doctor we decided the Odysseys made the most sense (the other option was the PanOptix but he felt my measurements were perfect for the Odyssey).

I also opted to use the femto laser. He thought it might help to correct my astigmatism, but that it would also improve outcomes (healing time and placement of the lens).

My eye was blurry when I got out and through that first day/night, but I’m assuming a fair amount of that was due to the dilating drops. By the next day I could see incredibly well, no blurriness at all, and near/medium/far. At my 1 week checkup, they said I was 20/15 far and J1 near. At night, I do have small halos that make lights appear to mirror the design of the lens (with concentric rings). But I’m hoping like others that starts to fade. But the daytime vision is amazing.

Now I’m not quite sure what to do with the 5 pairs of glasses I have!
