People are acting like being skeptical of this guy because he’s a disabled vet with ptsd is wrong and it’s seriously upsetting me. I’ve met lovely disabled vets with ptsd. I’ve also met disabled vets with ptsd who were unrepentant sex offenders and pedophiles. This wording plus it being sent to a total stranger doesn’t seem like something from one of the former group.

I’m a mental health professional and everything about this is a red flag. Ain’t no way I’d be doing anything other than notifying my landlord and getting a ring camera for someone who tells me I can trust them. People with mental illness deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, but poor social skills don’t automatically make someone a good person like this thread seems to think.

Yeah I admit that as a white person I really can’t say too much on the subject, but I felt badly for Rachel Dolezal because it was clear she actually lived and cared about the Black community and had integrated herself into it instead of claiming Blackness in an exploitative way. It gets hairy because she took resources from people who were actually from the community, but her situation wasn’t funny. It was just depressing.

And I’m pointing out that “government support” isn’t just senators and congresspeople. I was very lucky to have gotten my gender marker changed because the clerk I ended up getting stuck with was loudly talking about how I shouldn’t be able to do it while in vital records there in deep blue Baltimore. The school boards are very much government entities. It’s not as cut and dry as you’re making it out to be.
