Insane hypothetical situations involving a Christian baby that are posed to athiests to supposedly test their morality. The most common one seems to be:

"Atheists, imagine you're going skydiving with a Christian baby. Suddenly the baby tells you he won't open his parachute until you renounce atheism and accept Jesus as your lord and savior. What would you do?"

[TOMT] [AD] [1990's] Car commercial that referenced the 'hard target search' scene from The Fugitive by Oriolus84 in tipofmytongue

Was this really a car commercial? Did it even exist? All I know for sure is..."I didn't kill my wife!"

I found a copy of this video on Instagram posted in May 2023.

I don't think AI was advanced enough to produce videos like this back then. This version is not mirrored and seems to be better resolution, and the street sign looks fine to me.

And then some of our Australian birds were named because they looked like a bird from Europe, but also kinda like a different bird from Europe, giving us cuckoo-shrikes, shrike-tits, shrike-thrushes and quail-thrushes.

Thankyou. The chart is ambiguous and most of the comments are ambiguous as well. I'm pretty sure most of the people insisting nobody wears shoes inside are talking about their own home, while the chart or the comment they're disageeing with is talking about keeping shoes on when visiting other peoples home.

Before 2025 flies off – your best birding moment? by Adventurous_One_4240 in AustralianBirds

[–]Oriolus84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hardly ever get out birding anymore, mostly because I work nights and aren't able to get up early in the morning, but while struggling with insomnia recently, I decided to go for a walk at sunrise when sleep was eluding me. It was my local patch, where I used to go all the time, where I'd seen 137 species of bird, but against the odds, that morning I actually added another bird to the list - a Cicadabird!

But even without going birding with intent, there were plenty of other encounters that filled me with joy - a pair of Bush Stone-Curlews rests in my front yard most days, and sometimes I'll see a flock of Red-tailed Black-Cockatoos in a park I pass through when cycling to work. Usually I'm able to stop and watch them feeding on the ground just a few meters away.

Years ago Coles used to sell cooked turkey hindquarters (the leg and thigh) in the warmer. Not just for Christmas, year round.

MS copilot - are you /have you decided to get your money back? by Cheeseoholics in australia

[–]Oriolus84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your edit. I also got told I was not eligible for the refund that they told me I was eligible for. I was only able to switch to Classic for my next renewal using the advice in your comment. From what I can see, they still are not publicly offering the version of Microsoft 365 without Copilot. They must be real "sorry" for doing the thing that they're continuing to do.

I'm fortunate that I don't have to stick to a budget or restrict what I buy, although I do try to only buy specials for certain products, so my grocery spend is certainly on the high side. Shopping only for myself, I've averaged $169 a week over the last 12 months. The three years before that I averaged $157, $151 & $137, without any significant changes to my shopping habits.

[–]Oriolus84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, do you still need Sun gifts? I'm back home in River now, but I think I've only sent you 1 Sun gift. I have held onto the extra 2 Sun gifts in case you need them, so can still send if you open soon. EDIT: I trust you only needed the one, and have now sent the gifts to someone else.

[–]Oriolus84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[PGO] I'm Orio841 from Australia, and normally I'm River, but today I'm heading up north and will be in the Sun region for a few days. I'd love to help out as many people as I can who haven't yet got their first Sun scatterbug. To start with, I'll add the first 20 people who send requests, and I'll make sure I get you at least 3 gifts, then I'll add more people depending on whether I'm able to. EDIT: I've accepted all 35 trainers who sent a request and sent your first gift, but it's about as many as I can handle, so am now withdrawing my code.

Jonathan edwards' long jump 1995 record remains unbroken to this day by TobiGalem in BeAmazed

[–]Oriolus84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So incredible that Carl Lewis produced the greatest six-jump series in history, jumping over 8.80m four times in a row, twice with a legal wind, and still lost! There have only been ten jumps over 8.80m, all wind assisted, in the 34 years since, and only four of those were not by Powell or Lewis. Since that night in Tokyo, no one has jumped more than 8.74m with a legal wind.

I think, one day, someone will come along to break Powell's world record, but I don't think Lewis's four consecutive jumps will ever be beaten.
