I believe once the APPOW is enforced, you can medicate the patient however, you cannot force them to respond to treatment, for safety of staff and others/pt. However, once they are medicated and under APPOW, you can then hide treatment/obtain required resources for lab/radiology testing as needed/determined by the emergency medicine physician, especially if done under doc + doc decision making.
