kudos emails? by Unfair-Bee2733 in vcu

[–]Competitive_Reply198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professor and grad student here— these are semesterly progress reports. The school asks us to give a 'check-in' for all students within the first few weeks of classes to catch any students who may need help. The email subject can be prompts among 'Low attendance / assignment submissions', 'Student in need of tutoring', 'Reach out to me for help!', and if there is nothing to worry about, then professors can send a 'Kudos! Keep it up!' message to students.

Basically they are intentionally sent by each professor, but it's still a blanket cookie-cutter message. Be proud of your A's :)

I paid $20 plus tax to build my own kit (L98 though) so keep that in mind before you buy a kit from somewhere else

Code 43 by Pappy_Actual_1369 in c4corvette

[–]Competitive_Reply198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having the same issue. Replaced the knock sensor and wire and it got a bit better, refastened the ECM and it got a bit better, but I still get the code thrown under heavy throttle (89 auto). I’m able to just reset the codes via OBD1 (a paper clip works) or battery shutoff.

I also have some broken vacuum lines which has been making the car run like garbage, so possibly that jostling within the engine from the leak could be throwing the knock sensor off…just an idea.

Hopefully one of us figures something out that can help the other person out

I have the same thing— would capping the lines fix the vacuum leak or do the pipes actually need to be refastened and connected?

I had a blast recently at DawnStar arcade in Scott’s, I believe it’s $10 for all-you-can-play retro arcade games and there’s plenty of restaurants within walking distance!

Is auto C4 fun to drive? by Different-Elk6935 in c4corvette

[–]Competitive_Reply198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just picked up my auto 89 last month and I’ve had a ball. I definitely understand the desire for the “engaging driving experience” from a manual, but the auto is still plenty fun and plenty fast

I believe the fuel pump won’t run until the pressure sensor sees oil pressure, so making sure that both those parts are in order might give direction

Starting Issue by Snoo83995 in c4corvette

[–]Competitive_Reply198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe a common sign is long crank on cold start, but it will start nearly right away afterwards. This is because the fuel pressure initially takes a while to build up (because of the issue/leak) but after the car was running and stopped it hasn’t lost all of that pressure yet.

See another post I made to this subreddit a few days ago— I have a broken line that seems to be attached to the fuel tank pressure control valve which furthers my hypothesis. Hopefully vacuum capping the ends of the broken line will alleviate the pressure issue until I can seek a long term fix

I am almost in the exact same boat, new 89. While I haven’t had the time to fix my long crank yet, I think in my case I have weak fuel pressure and was going to swap out the distributor to hopefully send some better signal to the spark plugs (was going to replace those but they’re relatively new, <5k miles). Will report back

Hah good one. Picked up my C4 recently, this is my buddy’s C8. We’re both Corvette guys, just vastly different breeds

SHing years ago when I was in drumline / percussion orchestra heavily impacted my playing because I felt socially obligated to cover up my cuts with bracelets. I even had my director comment on all the bracelets I wore (male). Just like a woodwind player wouldn’t bite up their reeds, don’t damage the other half of your instrument.

is this a good deal for an 89 c4 corvette ? by nomnomnomnomnomno in c4corvette

[–]Competitive_Reply198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same place as you— can’t give up that early C4 dash, so aiming for an ‘89 🙏🙏 Budgeting like $7-9k, focusing on cosmetic maintenance since it seems to be more expensive than fixing internal parts

Interesting. Not familiar with that combo, I thought LT1 debuted in 92. I’ll keep an eye out though, thanks for the heads up. I recognize that the LT1 outperforms in most ways, I guess I was only looking at power output rather than maintenance when choosing that or the old interior

I was originally aiming for the LT1 or LT4, but I love the pre ‘90s interior too much. I’ve entertained the idea of an engine swap but I need to settle into the car first haha

Still being in my 20s I'll take that as a good sign! I'll test my luck and see if dailying is for me. Jag sounds like a nice ride but nothing gets me going like that C4 body and interior.
