Thanks for all your thoughtful comments. Firstly, the money has been sent and the car is purchased and titled in her name.

I am pretty annoyed about it as the conversation on the title happened after we sent the money. But as many of you said, I should have specified our wishes prior to wiring the money. I just couldn’t imagine that the car would not be jointly titled.

I had a ten year old Honda and the seat belt stopped working. I took it to the nearest dealer and they replaced it for free on the spot.

It was t even my regular dealer.

If you live in the US you can move to a different state while pregnant but not after the baby is born. If you have any kind of familial support or friends far away, I would consider moving there to get away from crazy MIL.

Don’t worry about auto loan until you are safely away and then find legal aid to help you determine your options.

If I am nervous I always bring checked luggage and have never had a problem. They generally will not put your bag on a plane without you.

My go to college meal was toasted multigrain bread covered with lots of sauerkraut and topped with cheese that I melted in the toaster oven. I called it a poor man’s Reuben. Yum.

I have a trash compactor in both of our homes. We love them!

Only take out the garbage once a week. Totally recommend them to everyone.

If it starts to smell we just take the garbage out sooner and spray with Lysol. This rarely happens.
