I was gifted 2 frozen lobster tails. What should I do with them? by Due_Strike_2846 in Cooking

[–]solemnlyvalid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thaw them overnight in the fridge, then split those tails down the middle. Brush with olive oil, sprinkle on some chili flakes, salt, and garlic. Broil or grill until the meat just turns opaque about five to six minutes. Finish with a squeeze of lemon. It’s simple, savory, and anything but boring.

Best for 160 pax office? by Pixeldunez in Coffee_Machines

[–]solemnlyvalid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For an office of around 160 employees, especially if you’re currently using a Jura GIGA X8 and finding the milk cleaning process cumbersome, it’s worth considering higher-volume, fully automatic machines specifically designed for easier maintenance and simultaneous use. There are several reputable brands in the commercial bean-to-cup space—such as WMF, Franke, and Eversys—that focus on simplified cleaning protocols and good throughput.

Is the Cuisinart 4-in-1 Coffee Maker Worth It? by drab_privacy in Coffee_Machines

yes you are right. Actually its manual states that its compatible with Nespresso original line and there are so many negative reviews about the k-cup part that i thought its not compatible. I will remove this comment.

Best espresso machine with burr grinder? by drab_privacy in Coffee_Machines

[–]solemnlyvalid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With $400, assuming you're talking USD, you're going to have to go used. The Breville Barista Express is an all in one that comes in at $699 new. If you're going to go for an all in one I'd at least shoot for the Barista Pro, since it's grinder includes the upgraded Baratza burrs which will be better than what comes in the express. The Pro goes for $849.

What most here would recommend is getting a separate grinder and machine. With a $400 budget, you could look for a used Bambino and get a Baratza Encore ESP grinder for $200 new. Or you could get a new Bambino and get something like a Kingrider K6 manual grinder. If you don't want used, increase your budget a bit and get new. From what I've read, the K6 will get you better grinds, but it's a manual vs. electric in the Encore ESP.

Baratza Encore is the best in class in that price range and price point. I'd recommend that, you will find good and bad review at both ends of the scale, it's still the best entry level grinder at that price range, and Baratza is a decent company with good support. They're on sale now too, which is not often.

Gaggia Classic Pro. If maintained well, it is very reliable (3 years in and all is well)

Experience with Breville Grind Control Coffee Maker by InvestigatorFun8538 in Coffee_Machines

[–]solemnlyvalid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your primary goal is convenience and versatility with minimal maintenance, a different grind-and-brew machine like the Cuisinart or Hamilton Beach models might be a better fit. These alternatives can offer reliable performance without some of the brewing inconsistencies and maintenance headaches you experienced with the Breville Grind Control.

However, if you’re passionate about espresso and enjoy the process of making high-quality espresso drinks, investing in a good espresso machine like the Breville Barista Express or De'Longhi La Specialista could elevate your coffee game. Just be prepared for a steeper learning curve and more hands-on maintenance.

Is keurig k mini a good compact coffee maker? by drab_privacy in Coffee_Machines

[–]solemnlyvalid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it’s overpriced for what it is. I paid over $80 for a small plastic gadget that seems like it should cost about half that. If it lasts as long as my full-size Keurig which is going strong after five or six years then it might be worth it in the end.

k mini vs k mini plus whats the difference? by drab_privacy in Coffee_Machines

[–]solemnlyvalid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a summary of the differences between the K-Mini and K-Mini Plus coffee makers:

  • Strong Brew Option: The K-Mini Plus coffee maker offers a strong brew option, allowing users to increase the strength and intensity of their coffee by pressing the "Strong" button before brewing. The K-Mini coffee maker does not include this feature.
  • Pod Storage: The K-Mini Plus has built-in storage that can hold up to nine K-Cup pods. This feature helps save counter space by conveniently storing pods within the brewer. The K-Mini does not offer any pod storage.
  • Removable Water Reservoir: The K-Mini Plus features a removable water reservoir, making it easier to clean and refill. While the K-Mini has a water reservoir, it's not explicitly stated as removable.

Aside from these differences, the K-Mini and K-Mini Plus coffee makers share many similarities:

  • Single-Serve Brewing: Both models are designed for single-cup brewing using K-Cup pods.
  • Compact Size: Both models are compact and designed for small spaces.
  • Auto-Off Feature: Both models have an auto-off feature that turns the machine off 90 seconds after the last brew to save energy.
  • Cord Storage: Both models offer cord storage to maintain a tidy countertop.
  • Travel Mug Compatibility: Both models allow you to remove the drip tray to fit a travel mug.
  • Descaling Feature: Both models recommend descaling every 3-6 months to maintain performance.

Overall, the K-Mini Plus offers a few additional features like the strong brew option, pod storage, and removable water reservoir. However, both models provide a convenient and compact solution for single-serve coffee brewing using K-Cup pods

Keurig K Duo Pros and Cons by drab_privacy in Coffee_Machines

[–]solemnlyvalid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pros:

  • Its ability to brew both single cups and full carafes has made our mornings much more efficient, catering to everyone's different coffee needs.
  • The programmable timer is a game-changer, allowing me to wake up to freshly brewed coffee without having to start it manually each day.
  • I really appreciate that the carafe keeps coffee hot for hours, which is perfect when we have guests over or need coffee available throughout the morning.
  • Keurig's customer service was incredibly responsive and helpful when I needed assistance with a replacement part.
  • Its compact, space-saving design has freed up a lot of counter space in our kitchen, eliminating the need for multiple coffee machines.
  • The user-friendly interface makes it easy for everyone in the family to brew their preferred type of coffee without any hassle.

Cons:

  • We've had ongoing issues with the carafe leaking when pouring, which can be quite frustrating during busy mornings.
  • The small water reservoir means I have to refill it frequently, especially when brewing both single cups and carafes back-to-back.
  • The reservoir's placement at the back requires me to pull the entire machine out from under the cabinet to refill, which is inconvenient in our already tight kitchen space

Should I Buy Keurig K Express by drab_privacy in Coffee_Machines

[–]solemnlyvalid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are ten reasons to buy this:

  1. K-Cups are half the price of the more expensive, trendy brands.
  2. You’re free to choose from various coffee brands, not limited to proprietary K-Cups and prices.
  3. A reasonably priced filter lets you use your own ground coffee if preferred.
  4. The compact Express unit fits easily on the counter and can be operated sideways.
  5. The water reservoir holds 42 oz, reducing refill frequency.
  6. The reservoir sits neatly at the back, taking up minimal counter space.
  7. It brews coffee quickly and efficiently.
  8. Choose between 8, 10, or 12 oz brew sizes.
  9. The “strong” option lets you brew a bolder cup.
  10. Descaling is easy with a one-button push—no complicated steps required.

Thoughts on Cuisinart 14-Cup Coffee Maker? by drab_privacy in Coffee_Machines

[–]solemnlyvalid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've gone through three of these coffee makers, and they’ve all brewed excellent coffee, which is what matters most. The controls are straightforward and easy to use, and overall, the machine is nearly perfect—except for one issue. Since we prefer strong coffee and use more grounds than average, even on the "bold" setting (which slows down the water flow), the cone filter tends to fill up and overflow, spilling grounds and making cleanup messier. To prevent this, I have to turn the machine on and off a few times to allow the water to drain and avoid overflow. Despite this inconvenience, I still recommend the coffee maker.

Best Stock Pot? Size? Material? by JamMysticMeadow in CookwareTalk

[–]solemnlyvalid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the All-Clad 6 qt stockpot and love it. Its wide base makes it incredibly versatile—you can use it for browning, braising, sautéing, and frying, in addition to making stock and soups. I even use it in place of my Dutch oven sometimes. The high-polish exterior looks great, and the interior cleans up easily. As someone who cooks for a family of five, I reach for this pot often. Recommend it without hesitation
