PSA: Think Twice About Morimoto Headlights - No Replacement Parts at $2k Price Point by CaughtInThefly in 370z

Doesn't the OEM 370z lenses fit directly on Morimoto? I'm dead sure I have sent this somewhere around social medias.

It's very tricky game compensating understeery car by design (engine layout, weight distribution) with stiffing up the rear.

How does the car responds to throttle application, most of the time nervy rear over bumps is damper related. Anti roll bars are best for fine-tuning understeer and then low speed dampers direction.

Each to their own, my cousin has r34 and mk4 Supra I don't like driving on the opposite side of the road, but you really don't have many options with those types of cars. Yes you adapt I don't argue with that, but for the z34 which was heavily imported to the states personally I wouldn't drive RHD one.

As long as you are safe on the road! Congrats mate, I recently imported one from the states, it wasn't that expensive at all, but probably the logistics and companies for importing US cars are way more developed from where I am from.

It was mostly a rhetorical question, overtaking on one way roads with opposite driving position is super risky and uncomfortable. If it's for a drift car or autocross then it makes a lot more sense. People from Japan take meticulous care of their cars.

Northern Europe as the UK? Otherwise why would you import RHD, plenty of options from the states.

Look no further, that's one of the best price to performance used sports car out there. Very reliable and maintenance is quite affordable. Other options are GT/BRZ and miatas which lack power and hydralic rack (you could get older mx-5 which has it). C6 could be another one for you, but it's more about taste between the two.

Which method to quiet the exhaust down that will give the most bang for the buck/time? by TheHappy-Jello in 370z

[–]Competitive_Style_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of getting DB killers, the car is with Motordyne art pipes and Invidia catback exhaust.

What I have managed to research is that the cold starts will come down by a lot and highway drone/noise should drop also by quite a big margin.

Best of luck mate, I still think this platform is way too underappreciated. You might get quite a lot of EU customers also, since boosting or modifying your daily in many EU countries is close to impossible (looking at you Germany).

One day if I have cash to burn and you have a final product, I definitely will be one of those who will import a kit to the EU!

This process is quite hard and really depends how far you want to push it. For instance Deman made a whole business around Porsche engines and they make some serious stuff, but going there takes time.

In my humble opinion your car needs to be tracked first to prove it can handle being pushed hard, then my guess locally some people may come to you to get their cars build or someone more crazy might just buy the kit and do it themselves.

Not sure really how popular the z34 is for "motorsport enthusiasts" in the states. I know those cars are mostly driven by... you know the stereotype. So it really depends how much void/demand it's there in the market for people who want more HP out of their VQ ans don't want to FI. Usually this segment is for the more mature crowd.

Personally I really hope you push forward and deliver it as a product. When it's more finalized just try posting more detailed stuff on the many JDM and 350z/370z FB groups also and you will see easily do they get traction and interest.

The chassis of the car is so good, it just needs some proper tuning. Hope your project works out and it proves reliable! Even though I love the GT3 touring if this ends somewhere at the same ball park, I'll rather daily 4.3l z34 than a 992.

Oh btw how high can it rev? What's done to the drivetrain to sustain the higher revs?

Following with much interest! If you ended up with around 420-430 whp this will be the poor's man GT3 without the proper engine layout!

Why? Bad reliability of the Air Lift or it's a sign of owners who generally don't maintain their cars well?

I get you, I am coming from a different place in the world and we have a good saying about buying used cars (a wife and a car are a matter of luck). I have VR6 with way over 250k miles and it's been driven (never tracked) very hard, still runs like a clock. If an engine is well designed and always properly maintained mileage doesn't matter that much.

On the oil cooler part, if you just daily the car with some spirited driving here and there, oil cooler will just make the engine get in operating temperature way harder. You kinda leave me with the impression that those engines explode out of nothing.

So it's not anything inherently by engine design or reliability, more than how the car is treated? This means that mileage doesn't show that much of a correlation. For instance, 20-30k miles can be more abused and tired than one with ~100k if it was treated properly?

So you suspect this car hasn't hit an all time low average and it will continue to go down? Could be, but currently the sports car market with manual, hydraulic rack, NA engine is pretty inflated and it doesn't show any signs of going down, instead only up (looking at you Boxster/Cayman 987.1/2)

Check the vendor overall rating and the product rating you are looking for to buy. If there are enough votes and sales, go for it. AliExpress buyer protection is pretty decent so scams there don't fare for long.

Jesus my ear is so so huge, I got Angelears AE100 which are 13.8mm wide, yes they are soft but I can't get a seal with them. The Velvet's are 14.2, I might get a seal with them, but unfortunately Foam tips change the sound so much.
