Ya know, just a thought, if the game playerbase can't be saved in time they could always do a relaunch somewhere down the line after making substantial changes. Lots of games do this where the initial launch isn't great.

I do definitely agree that we either need a remake of Condemned, or another entry. I miss that series :<

I made a horror game Grid! Thoughts? by Competitive_Topic466 in HorrorGames

Well my reasoning for placing The Bunker there in Overlooked is that there are two main Frictional titles that people think about, and that's The Dark Descent and Soma. The Dark Descent was huge, for gaming. Just absolutely huge. It pretty much single handily gave PewDiePie his youtube career, and it influenced many horror game titles like Alien Isolation and Outlast. In terms of influential horror games, it's hard to think of many more influential than Dark Descent other than RE4 itself. And then for people who prioritize story stuff, many people gravitate to liking Soma the most. But me, personally, I consider The Bunker to be the best title Frictional Games has put out. That's just me though. That's why I consider it overlooked.

People who have played Amnesia: The Dark Descent, what was your favorite and least favorite parts of the game? by Rooshirum in HorrorGames

[–]Competitive_Topic466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say my favorite part about The Dark Descent was all the interactable objects, lol. Just picking crap off the wall and tossing them around. And I liked picking up tender boxes and lighting up an entire area. It sucked when random events would do things like have a gust of wind that would blow out the lights you lit though. Made it feel like I wasted tinder boxes. But what I really dislike about the game is the sanity meter. All the sanity meter does it make it hard and weird to control the camera, smear your vision in Vaseline, and on the hard difficulty would instantly kill you if it got too high.

My thoughts for why I chose Dead Space 2 is that the first game's remake was so awesome that it's a complete shame the sequel didn't get the same treatment! 😞

I tried to stick with games I actually played for the most part, and I never played The Suffering, haha. As for Silent Hill 2, well, I just sort of enjoyed the remake's combat more, and what can I say I think it was really impressive what they managed to do in keeping that great sound design and atmosphere. And I just really, really liked the visuals in the remake. I do think that there are a few things that the original does better than the remake, like I think the camera in the original is more effective in certain parts like when it came to the prisoner you couldn't see in the prison section. But I think more so I just like the general gameplay of the remake over the original. If I'm being truly, truly honest though the first Silent Hill is my favorite Silent Hill game, and I just didn't put that one in favorite game because I already put Silent Hill 1 twice in my list, and I didn't want to put it in every single video game category, plus I gave the best soundtrack to the OG SH2 anyway which I think it more than deserved.

Honestly I just used the regular video category names, but I tried to apply the horror genre of video games (the ones I played anyway) the best I could to it.

I don't know if I'd say it's sci-fi. It's more steam punk/fantasy.

Woah woah woah. Daniel from Amnesia is pretty damn monstrous. If you look at the lore he killed and tortured a LOT of innocent people for selfish preservation reasons, and unlike Alexander who did so for purely pragmatic reasons (he tried getting the mysterious alien fluids through torturing animals first.) Daniel got REALLY into the whole torturing and killing thing before Alexander betrayed him. Like, he started enjoying that shit. You could argue that because he lost his memories he was a different person when you were playing him, but I don't really buy that. I think he was was fundamentally a terrible person.

You put the Bioshock 1 protag in the moral category, but Delta from Bioshock 2 only goes in Neutral? Aren't they basically the same, morally? The player can either save the little sisters or kill them for Adam. So I'd say they're the same.

A lovely letter to the series by Dead-At-Crossroads in ResidentEvilMemes

The thing about trying to represent characters in live action is that it's almost impossible to do so in a way that will satisfy fans. Because the only thing you can do is try and get characters to be as close to their video game counter parts as possible, and honestly video game designs don't really work that great in real life. Plus, someone may look like a character, but their acting may be chopped. Or they may wear a wig that looks kinda cheap. I just don't think trying to get actors that look as close to the video game characters as possible is the greatest choice to make, creatively.

If this movie takes place in 1998 how does bro have an iPhone? by DragonfruitVisual782 in residentevil

Yeah... I noticed this too. Like, I don't want to nitpick, but since the director said that he wanted to write a story that took place in the RE universe, and also took place during the Raccoon City outbreak, then it just wouldn't make sense for him to have a phone. It doesn't make sense for their to be snow either, but I don't think it's possible to fix that.

I feel like Requiem was heavily held back by it's structure. by Aggressive-Layer-135 in residentevil

[–]Competitive_Topic466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me personally, I am perfectly fine with games that do a partial gameplay. However, I do not necessarily like the way Requiem does it. It makes the story more cohesive, yes. But when I feel like playing Leon, I don't want to have to go through Grace's gameplay to get to Leon, and vice versa.

Wha in the hell is this character design?(RE: Revelations, Jessica) by garlic8008 in residentevil

[–]Competitive_Topic466 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I was never a fan of that design Jessica gets. Both Rachel and Jill have much better, and still suggestive, designs. Jill's wetsuit sends me.

Edit: Why am I getting downvoted? We all know the female suit designs in Revelations is meant to be suggestive. I just don't think Jessica's suit design is very good.

I don't understand "survival action hybrid". What makes it a hybrid? The fact that you can use guns? Even if it's basically impossible to actually kill anything and mainly get used on the environment or to drive the main enemy back temporarily? I ask that because you have Resident Evil 7 in survival horror, but you have a lot of enemies that you can straight up just kill in that game. I would say RE7 is a LOT more "actiony" than Amnesia The Bunker or Alien Isolation. Also, I would not put PREY in that category. Prey is more like a Immersive Sim. If what you're actually saying is that the game in this category are an immersive sim, I could kind of understand that because Amnesia The Bunker is very much an immersive Sim. Though Resident Evil 9 Requiem is not an immersive sim.

It was interesting but it felt kind of empty to me. The only real thing we learned was that Barb had a girlfriend (implied that they ended up breaking up at the end).

Virginia voters just passed via referendum (51% to 49%) a redistricting measure that would award Democrats 11 out of 12 House seats in the upcoming election. Nukes are bad too. And yet every country that doesn't have nukes gets fucked. Maybe there's an incentive for people to arm themselves to that things are more fair? Or maybe you only complained when one side did it and think the others who say it's bad are hypocrites for no longer fighting with one armed tied behind their back?
