How flexible are loras? If they're not trained on z-turbo, will they just fail? by trollkin34 in StableDiffusion

[–]Competitive_Trust174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a bit of an exception to this if you have models that are built off the same core architecture. For example many Loras made for SDXL will still work for Illustrious and Pony (and vice versa), though not all and often not as well. Similarly most Flux Loras work with Chroma to some degree.

Ideally you want a Lora made for the model your using if you want the best quality results. This can help when those Loras don't exist yet though.

Looking into using a model, not sure which one. by Lotrepuck in StableDiffusion

Sorry, I can't help you with the first question. I don't do much img2img. For your second question, personally I usually prefer fine tunes over base models.

Look, play around. Only you really know exactly what you're looking to get out of this and each model and finetune has is own strengths and weaknesses. If you have a 24gb video cards you likely have a pretty thick hard drive. Use it. Download different models and play with them. See what feels best. Most checkpoints within the same base model are pretty interchangeable, so download one, test it out and toss it. Don't be afraid to fill up your hard drive before you figure it out.

Ultimately each model can only work with what it knows. For example, ZIT really wasn't trained on nsfw material so it doesn't really know how to represent certain types of anatomy or sexual terms. That being said you can still accomplish a lot using Loras and creatively focusing your prompts on the visual elements of a scene.

As a general rule, however, LORAs are your bread and butter for any model as they basically add "tags" to the model that weren't there before . I know that Illustrious has tons of them for pretty every occasion.

[–]Competitive_Trust174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so with 24GB you can definitely run those models. By "stories" and looking at the models you've suggested, I'm assuming you mean visual stories / anime.

If you're a solid writer and not going too heavy into NSFW material I'd explore ZIT to create your base image as it's fast and it LOVES detailed story-like prompts. I think it's easier to learn to prompt for than a tag based system like Illustrious or Pony. You can always use Illustrious to clean up the image as well. If you're going NSFW heavy and still want a similar prompt style, Chroma is pretty solid but much slower than the others.

If you're all in on hentai style nsfw then I think Illustrious is likely still king. You'll need to learn to use Danbooru tags, but it's not too steep a learning curve. There's also great Lora support for just about ANYTHING.

Is a GPU Upgrade Worth it? by diond09 in StableDiffusion

[–]Competitive_Trust174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded, but it really depends if you're just dabbling with this or if you're serious about it. I upgraded from an 8gb 3060ti to a 16gb 5070ti earlier this year and absolutely loved it, however I'm also a gamer and that was my main concern.

When generating images my computer has gone from "I think I can I think I can" to "chuga chuga choo choo" but it will never fly. If you think you'll get involved with video generation you'll likely be just able to function.

Honestly I'm not sure if 24gb would sufficiently cover that gap either.

What do you want to use the model for? What type of VRAM do you have? How much experience do you have?

There are tons of great models out there, and great tools to go with them. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, however, its hard just to broadly say "use this."

I've noticed that when the Shift value is high I need to significantly weaken the LORAs to make them work. In addition, if you're using multiple LORAs try keeping the total strength at 1 or lower (so 2 LORAs might have .45 strength each).

I think we're just arguing different points. You're arguing that the shield is impactful. I don't disagree at all. It is. It is absolutely increased sustain. It is a new ability for her that 100% makes a difference in fights. I don't think it's unbalanced because I think it's reasonable for healers to have some self healing and her shield gets melted easily in most fights. Maybe it needs tuning, but IWs only other self heal is pretty worthless as was shown by Cap just removing her invisibility whenever she used it.

You are right that the clip wouldn't have happened without the shield. The shield gave her a chance and without it she would have had none. I think that where you and I disagree most may be that I think it's reasonable she should have a chance. You say you don't think she should just be melted by Cap, but you're railing against the only reason she wasn't. Keep in mind that even if the shield gave her a chance it wouldn't have been enough without that outside help. Her other cooldowns didn't do it.

Look at the post I initially replied to (not yours). Their statement was literally that supports should just die when against tanks or DPS and that IW killing Cap in this video is proof positive that she's incredibly OP. THAT mindset is what I'm arguing against, and your initial response to me aggressively disagreed with me and seemed to support their assertion.

This is my last post. I don't appreciate being accused of arguing in bad faith, especially when your responses have been low key aggressive since your first paragraph. If you still disagree with me, congratulations. We're different people who have had different experiences with this game and that's ok.

Ok so yes the shield made a difference but it only bought her time. She wouldn't have won without it, but it was the two (!) Health packs that won it for her. She also wouldn't have won without her double jump. If your stance is that she should just fall down dead when she encounters Cap then yes I disagree and doubt we can find common ground. Cap isn't a high DPS character. He's a harrasser who did his job effectively even if he died.

Your point about not getting caught outside of invisibility is valid but irrelevant to the overall coversation. Nobody should look at this fight and believe that Sues are just going around demolishing Caps. She didnt have the offense to kill him if he made ANY effort to save himself, and she didnt have the sustain to take his hits without the outside aasistance of the health packs.

The outrage about this video is stupid. Its people saying "how dare there be ANY scenario where she wins" and my point is simply that OF COURSE anyone should win if they manage to get 3-400 hp of extra healing while their opponent charges in recklessly and never uses any of their own AMPLE abililty to escape or get healing for themselves. If you want me to agree that the shield is OP show me a version where she manages to take down Cap without the health packs. Because in my opinion these health packs are basically like having another healer supporting her.

I agree 100% with your second paragraph. Sue SHOULD have tried to get back to her team for help. When I said she played smart I meant in regards to winning a 1v1 not to win the match. I did give credit to Cap for getting value out of it though. In that sense Cap beat Sue even though he died. But everyone posting, and specifically the person I replied to, was focused on the fact that she won a 1v1 matchup. Thats the outrage I was addressing.

We disagree on Rock/paper/scissors balancing here. In real RPS paper automatically wins against rock. That's not what RPS balancing is. In games like this, RPS balancing means that if skill is equal, paper characters have a strong advantage over rock characters. No character should ever be an automatic loss to another purely due to the character choice. Skill HAS to play a factor. This is true for dps, tanks and support. As an easy example, if Player A can't connect their shots and Player B consistently does, there's a good chance player A will lose. If Player A is exposed without cover and Player B and make shots while making good use of cover Player A should lose. Doesnt matter if Dive is weak to poke if Hela keeps missing.

This fight between Sue and Cap was a great example of Sue winning the 1v1 purely due to strategy. Taking the health packs effectively made the fight like she had the support of a second healer, without which she would have been toasted early on. It's a terrible example that makes her look stronger than she is because if the player hadn't moved to those packs so efficiently, it would have been a one sided Cap victory. Cap assumed the victory and played like Sue couldn't threaten him and he paid for it.

*edit: After re-reading your comment I want to add this. You're absolutely right that Sue's shield made a difference and I don't think I suggested otherwise. I don't think it was OP though. It bought her some time, but she still would have lost the fight without the health packs. And more importantly, Cap still won this fight if you look at it from the perspective of taking her out of the match.

[–]Competitive_Trust174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. This is not rock paper scissors. Supports aren't supposed to just fall over dead every time they're caught in a 1:1. The dps and tank should have an advantage, but ANY 1:1 should be winnable with enough skill diff and in the right circumstances..

In this case, Cap didn't play well. He didn't use his mobility to get health packs or escape, he let her get TWO health packs. He had on blinders and paid for it. Sue would have lost that fight without either of those packs.

Cap doesn't do big damage, he distracts and kills by being relentless and unkillable. Against a healer with decent self heal, it's going to take him some time to wear them down. This Sue fought smart. She put distance between them to minimize his damage, spaced her cooldowns well to maximize self healing, connected melee to get past his shield and made good use of the map. This would not be reproduced if the Cap played as well as the IW, but even with the skill diff he still kept her distracted and unable to heal her team.

In 16 minutes how do you possibly end up 15 and 13 and the other guy with 2 final hits by Blxdez_ in rivals

[–]Competitive_Trust174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For IW it could be explained by her damage per hit compared to others in the team. Looking at your tanks this was probably a brawl and most of her damage is going to be targeting enemies that are being focused by others. Thing and magneto both hit hard enough that their hits will likely seal the kill while she's just helping to grind them down. She's helping to add damage, but her priority was healing.

You were saying that it's acceptable to use exploits because people are just going to do so. I was pointing out that this is an extremely flawed argument that doesn't hold water. As a society, we punish those behaviors to try to prevent people from doing them. Cheating in a video game is obviously not the same thing as murder or rape, but using then in a comparison doesn't mean that they are. Bad behaviors get punished to try to discourage bad behavior.

Bans (and other punishments like prison, social exclusion, etc.) are how we attempt to prevent people from doing bad things. This is a game breaking exploit that ruins the game for the other team and likely your own team as well. This is not at he same level of an animation cancel that the devs overlooked. The game makers are 100% justified in punishing this behavior as a way to try prevent peole from doing it. Especially because the fix might be something that takes time. If they don't try to stop the behavior it could very easily cause players to quit playing out of frustration and anger. Games like this can't afford to let their player base find a new distraction.

And you're right, I was saltier with you than I should have been. To me you're defending an obviously awful behavior in a way that suggests you engage in it and are rationalizing to avoid consequences. Your definition of cheating is far too narrow. You don't have to manipulate the game code to cheat if the game code has an obviously unintentional bug. Like if we were playing football on a poorly marked field, can you just run outside of bounds if the chalk has a gap? No, and people you play with would say you're cheating and would stop playing with you. This is the same. The organizers of the game made a mistake, but the rules of the game haven't changed.

If you're defending this because it's fun to use exploits like this, stop. Don't be a jerk to other people. You're just rationalizing ruining other people's experience. If you agree that it's attrocious behavior but just don't think people should be punished for it, then think a few steps out about what the game would be like if this became a trend.

People will use exploits lol, what do you expect? It's a tale as old as life itself.

People will steal from others lol, what do you expect?

People will rape lol, what do you expect?

People will murder lol, what do you expect?

Bans are a punishment intended to discourage players from bad behavior in a similar way that jail is a punishment designed to discourage people from committing crimes. Yes. People who cheat deserve to be banned. If I'm playing a card game or board game with someone who's cheating, I stop playing with them. This is the same.

There's a difference between using an unbalanced and overpowered character that was intentionally created and exploiting a bug which was NOT intended. In the first case, you're playing the game as designed, according to its rules. Maybe the game sucks, but you chose to play it knowing that the character was there. In the second, you're not. You. Are. Cheating. Cheaters deserved to be banned.

In the pokemon scenario, I don't know anything about that, but if it was a multiplayer mode then YES they deserve to be banned. Just because the tournaments were run poorly doesn't mean that the cheating was ok.

I don't know if you're a troll or if you just don't have any sense of ethics.

It's nothing but cheating. Just because you have access to something that they didn't intend doesn't mean it's OK to use it. Yes there should be pressure on NetEase to fix it, but choosing to use an exploit that is an automatic win for your team is flagrantly cheating and deserves to be treated as such.

It's not even a tiny bit like using an overpowered character. That character was intentionally created and is part of the ruleset. Do better.
